I find this link to Ferguson a strange one, Huddersfield only signed him half way through last season on a 3 year deal, what would have changed in just 6 months to persuade them to let him go.

I was thinking the same thing about Ferguson. Is Mark Minnichello a realistic target? How old is he?

Mark Minnichello would be a good signing.

He would Paul, however i don`t think any of us have a clue who the new signing might be, hopefully we`ll find out soon, i`m pretty sure it will be a backrower but have no idea who, i would love it to be Sika Manu but i don`t expect that one to materialize.

Whilst I wouldn't go so far as to 'slag him off', I fail to see why we should be grateful that a player of his calibre (if any player, come to that) deigned to sign for us, especially for a 2-year deal and an alleged doubling of his pay. We offered him a good deal and he took it, he wasn't doing it as a favour to us.

I think it's interesting that McRae says he expects us to have a player in within 24 hours of Obst going. That suggests the deal's pretty much done, yet HDM are still saying it could be Ferguson or an NRL player. I just don't see us getting through negotiations in the space of a day, so we must have a very specific target lined up. If that's the case, the main question I have is whether the player in mind is a Brit, or an NRL player and these latest links are baloney or an additional signing (which doesn't fit with McRae's close to the cap talk).

Could well be Obst's salary space rather than his quota spot that we need after all, which suggests he's on a few bob.

I think it will be more likely the calibre of Ferguson/Pitts than Manu/Minnichello. That said i would be surprised if we did not use the quota spot, Gentle must have been doing some negs whilst he was in Aus?
