I think you have hit the nail on the head there Ian. Young Dave is getting emotionally detached. Which I might add is no bad thing. My season pass this year will be my Sky subscription. I am planning on being in the HU area for Good Friday. Should I spend my hard earned on a seat in the stand or a spot on the sofa ? I too am trying to get myself emotionally detached which I hope will lead me to having Dave's attitude. Until then my only way of venting my anger at the way our club has been run into the ground (on the field) is by coming on here.
The ones who we should be venting our anger out on do not like confrontation or being faced with hard realities. They like nice questions about marketing and match day experiences etc BUT the one experience we are all agreed that we like namely WINNING is sadly over looked.
It's going to be another long hard season, the talk before yesterday was all about 2012 and not the immediate season which for a supposed "BIG" club is a disgrace. 9000 people have bought passes for this year and sadly we have had a taster of the immediate future with a drubing (yes it was if you take away the first 10 mins when the opposition had no ball) at the hands of a well drilled disciplined side who all knew their place. But hey don't worry we have the best young English coach in the coutry at the helm all will be good.
Roll on the cricket season.

Very good post. Even having slept on it, this is the lowest I've felt as an FC fan for a long time, and I think the next step is not caring. Mr B is already keen for us to cut down on the time and effort we put into supporting the club as we're not getting a return on it. The point about the club inviting feedback and then just ignoring it is spot on. I got choked up last night when McNamara was mentioned - I know quite a few Bradford fans and they were overjoyed when he left. I really think appointing him would be the last straw for us, and we go home and away, to London, Wales, sometimes France, and spend a lot on merchandise. Patience is almost exhausted, I'm afraid.

Ive said even before a ball was kicked at weekend that with our thread bare squad and terrible coaching that we would be scrapping for the 6th 7th 8th spot, i havnt changed my opinion, looking at the likes of Cas, Brad and Hudds at weekend think even that might have been a tad optomistic.

Cheers, I am one of the most patient fans with this club and I go home and away every week (except Cardiff at the weekend) even when I lost my leg in 2008 I still managed not to miss a game and I would do anything to watch and support my team, so for me to consider not using my pass on Friday shows how disappointed I am at the moment! It's nothing to do with losing as we all have a good time win or lose home and away but as I said earlier it's the fact this club could be and should be dominating the sport every year!

| I know we have no God given right to be at the top of the league all the time, but you would think after 3 seasons of misery somebody in the boardroom would take some notice.Watching rugby isn`t cheap, and if they don`t pull their finger out and at least do something to give us hope of entertainment from our team, then I reckon the writing is on the wall for attendances.

same here mate, and i thought my dad was a tad hasty in not renewing his pass this season (and hes 73, been going since he was a lad) but now i wish id have maybe not renewed and picked my games, (although what games i would choose is a hard one ) we have everything in place off the field to be a top club, but we have the on field structure of a bottom club, clueless coach and clueless board!! the worst of it is, i dont feel gutted at having lost to our bitter rivals, i expected it, tbh im starting to feel FC is a chore, i know i have to go, as we all carry on doing, but i honestly am losing a bit of passion! ill probably change my mind next week, thats the rollercoaster ride of being an FC fan

It wont happen though BB. I knew exactly what i was likely to be served up this season and yet i still bought a pass. We continue to go because we always have that nagging feeling in the deep dark recesses of our brains. You know the voice that quietly tells you that things might change this season. Or the voice that says, Agar could be gone after a couple of months and a new coach in place who takes up to the next level.
Or that could be just me and my borderline schizophrenia

| At the end of the day if supporting the club is in your blood, it's in your blood. During our very quiet car ride home on Sunday night I actually thought how nice it would be to be one of the 'casual' fans who can walk away from going to the games either on a full-time or part-time basis. As much as I was fuming on Sunday having been embarrassed again, I know that I'll be at every game I can get to this season, just like thousands of others. And like Jed, my disappointment didn't come from the fact that we lost to Rovers - it came from the fact that since we lost that play-off game last September we clearly haven't improved one iota. Yes you can argue that the additions of Phelp and Obst will make us better but that's not the point. We shouldn't be scratting around signing those type of players when we've had more than long enough to recruit properly. I know some people on here will say that they don't need 'supporters like me' because I'm being negative about things but how the hell are you supposed to feel about FC at the moment? It's my club who I've supported home and away for 20-odd years and it hurts to see us messing about like we are. In my opinion - and it is purely my own opinion - the people who are saying 'it's only one game, things will come together etc' are kidding themselves. The squad isn't good enough and the coaching isn't good enough. I'll be there on Friday night but it'll be more in hope than anticipation which is bad news really. Apologies to those who don't like 'negativity' but sadly that's the way I feel at the moment.

| You have just as much right to be negative as others have to be positive. More and more people are coming around to see that things have not changed since Agar took over. Yes we moved up a few places and challenged for 4th spot, but for me the performances were no better than previous seasons.

| I've been a supporter for over 25 years and on Friday I will be voting with my feet and not attending the game.
While the club are getting 10,000+ attendances, they will not see a problem.
For all the people who say it's only 1 game and we will gel in time, I'm sorry, I disagree.
What we saw on Sunday was the same uninspiring, unmotivated, unorganised display we've grown used to over the last three years. Poor use of the bench. Little thought for tactics. Players out of position. A paper thin squad of players.... I could go on.
I also fear it's going to get worse before it gets better.
However, as long as we're a Grade A club, are making money on attendances and are occasionally scraping into the play-offs, there will not be a change on the coaching staff.
I love my club but I refuse to endorse the current regime. People may argue that makes me less of a supporter but it's my choice.
It might be old Faithful but it's not blind faith.

well put mate!
For me its not just 1 game agar showed me last year through the poor play and lack of game plan in so many games, the facts are that when it mattered and the big games game along we simply was not good enough:
Leeds x 3
wigan x 2
wire x 2
rovers play off game!
yes we finished 6th and possibly should have finished 4th, however i would say this was also to do with other teams under performing for alot of the season, eg leeds huddersfield who play far better rugby and have far better squads than we did/do! I just think if you gave the same squad we have now to someone of kearney/noble's quality then i would be confident of a top 6 finish at least, at the moment i can see us struggling for the eight!

So you reckon that everyone who finished below us last season went hugely backwards while we stood still?
You don't move from 12th place to 6th place and sit in the top 5 for most of the season without improving. It's simply not possible to fluke that kind of form over an entire season. A large chunk of that improvement was down to having better players rather than inspired coaching, but there was improvement nonetheless.
On the evidence of the MM game we'll not make any kind of improvement this season, and that will likely mean us falling back as other sides improve.

One of the biggest fan bases!
Great commerical and marketing side, Season pass and shirt sales arguably better than anyone else, making a profit year on year, ability to use those profits for trasnfer fees!
Great stadium!
Great youth/infrastructure !
Off the field, business and franchise wise we are on a par if not better than Leeds and Wigan who have been successful in the last few years based on all the above, but they also get the balance of the squad right and with wigan last year it showed how much of a differnce a decent coach makes.
However we don't have the coach/team in my opinion all the above warrants/deserves!
If you have come on here to undermine me and spout that rovers are better at this moment in time then save your breath as you will get no arguments from me as your coach has assembled a squad who can challenge for a top 4 finish in my opinion!
