The Washy bit? I've seen him play there before and have seen what natural abilities he has from playing other roles. He went into dummy half a few times last night and didnt look out of place. He also has a fantastic defensive work rate and was known to put 45+ tackles in when playing 13. |

I agree with most of your post except the bit about Hall not having to catch a high ball. Near the end he fielded one brilliantly he then ran 20 yards up field.......and dropped it! He had no pressure on last night and was out to prove a point, something he should have been doing all season IMHO.

I've heard that theory before, but unfortunately it seems to be blown apart by the fact that it's often us who tire first using this tactic. Far too often the square markers barely have to move and dominate the tackle quite easily, so I'd say that the resulting 'wrestle' tires our forwards out at least as much as theirs. Was possibly a potentially more fruitful tactic under Sharp, but with the increasingly slow ptb I think it offers almost nothing now.
Agree I'd sooner us make the ball do more work and have the opposition chasing about a bit. |

Doesnt have to be based on a player playing hooker to see the core skills required. Washy went into dummy half on a few occasions on Fri night for example and distributed well. |
