It was never going to get built on Leads Road at Apex Park, so you can put that one to bed straight away.

| 3 sites were mooted, Leads Road "AREA" was one and would have been favoured if like I said KR had come on board.

At the time a certain Paul Caddick was going to build them a new super stadium so they backed out. Unfortunately for Rovers Caddick had a change of heart and left them with what they have now. They have had enough money and favours from this council, blown the lot!!
As for the council giving F.C. a £43million investment, that has to be the joke of the century, IT'S A COMMUNAL STADIUM FOR EVERYONE TO USE (those who can afford). I'm sure there will be more than 10,000 against the council if they dare give KR anymore.
'"
Paul Caddick pulled out of the stadium proposal due to Hull City Council his idea was very similar to that of David Lloyd

| To be fair I agree that the council shouldn't be financing (part or in full) a new stadium. IF there are benefits for the council to fund the new north stand (offices, community development etc) then maybe that would be a goer but that is only if the council saw a payback for the outlay in terms of generated revenue.
The only bit of this thread I disagree with (apart from us playing in west hull) is the benefits the city of Hull get from the stadium and in particular the SMC. From an outsiders point of view I see the stadium as being treated as Hull City's stadium and the rest can dance to their tune. Hull FC have a leasing agreement and it is honoured in as such they get to play their games there. Everything else seems to be put to one side in lieu of the football.
When it was first opened we had concerts, international rugby etc taking place there, since city got into the prem league that all seemed to be put away and it became a prem league ground that had a tennant that just got blamed for killing the pitch.
The SMC is far to incestuous with HCFC for it to be a true community stadium.

Do you not think the basic problem is that the uptake for the concerts was so low, I doubt many of them made much of a profit, in fact I'd go so far to say they probably made a loss on most of them.
People are forgetting that the economy has changed in all respects since the KC was originally built, there is no emphasis on City so far as I can see.
But I can see attempts at petty point scoring from a rovers fan.

| When the Council got the Shares from KC I was working with 2 well know Councillors both were red and white fans ..They told me at the time a new Stadium was going to be built for ALL 3 sporting teams ..I can tell posters that both couldn't believe that HKR turn the chance down ..At the time I through it was pie in the sky .Even now when I talk to Matty he just say Rover missed a great opportunity to be playing in a great Stadium

It may have been that there was a low uptake, I just think the stadium could be used more in terms of events management. I thought the turning down of the trinations event was a travesty and would have been a great event.
There is no petty points scoring intended and if anything this wasn't a pop at FC, more at the fact that nationally football takes the lead over everything in matters like these.

The tri-nations was ot turned down, I know it suits people to say it was, but the RFL were incredibly inflexible.
What band do you envisage at the KC, it's not big enough for the big hitters, and it's too big for the smaller events.

"I'm thinking that somewhere down the line East Hull deserves that sort of sponsorship," he added. [/u
I thought the KC Stadium as Standee says was available to all three clubs initially and Rovers turned it down, prefering to stay and develop Craven Park, which is fair enough but they can't go bleating now that they've missed the boat because Craven Park isn't upto scratch and they have no money now to develop it.
Also if I remember rightly there were many locations around Hull being possible places for the KC Stadium, Kingswood/Sutton Fields being one of them, it begs the question that if the KC was built at Kingswood would they have turned it down or would they have realished it being in East Hull.'"
we turned it down because it was in west hull we are east hull and if you all get your facts right the amount invested in west hull hessle road, west park kc stadium and housing far out weigh the financial assistance given to east hull and hull kr. also according to the european social fund, east hull is the poorest estate in britain yet you all have a pop, yet you don't seem to mention the education suite at the kc nor it centres for woodcock st and hessle road area. but i guess that doesnt count!. East hull doesn't have a gemtec arena or a super stadium but tell you what let hull fc and west hull have all the european money and council money then that would be ok by you wont it.

| Obviousley people will know much more than me,and please correctif I am incorrect, but when they sold the ground to Morrisons did they not get a good deal on the ground in the east, did they not also get the old school ground at a reduced price then sell this back to the council and now lease this.Have they also not had the fitness centre built for free.
I have to say they make me laugh they had all the money when they moved but did were did it go now at a time when their is no money they ask for money for 7000 fans against the 30000+ fans who go to the stadium

Why should anything be given to Hull KR? As for other investment, Bransholme high school is currently being re-built, there's a new £14m health centre being built on goodhart road, 2 of my sons go to a brand new primary school, there is a new school being built on Preston road, the freedom centre, the new marfleet health centre, regeneration on the whole area of preston road area. All heppening now or have happened in the last few years. Plenty of investment in East Hull. The one main thing that doesn't help East Hull is the people that live in it (or at least 80% of them), they have no ambition and no motivation. Outside influences can help so much but the people need to change their mind sets.

| I'm not sure firstly why Hull FC fans care so much. And secondly, why anybody objects?
Hull KR are one of 14 teams in Super League. Were hardly football here. If a club maybe has the opportunity to have ground improvement, then I'm all for it. It certainly doesn't bother me that it might be part council funded. In fact, development can mean jobs.

The Council do own the ground, but it has been leased out to a private company for next to nothing for 150 years and Rovers are their tenants (they used to be called the gaingroup). The Council are already letting the company rent the ground for a peppercorn. One could argue that the council is putting 100 grand a year which would be the rental value of the place.
Desperation setting in across on the darkside. Thought St Hudge was putting the money up for the East stand extension. I reckon HCC are already helping them with their plans to turn the pictures of the North stand into a little more than just that.

and the RFL are suggesting that they will be following up all of the promises previously made. I think they have delivered more than others, but if the ground is cut on new grounds elsewhere they may face a tough battle.
In all reality I still think they will get a license, but they may have to invest more on their facilities than the playing side over the next 3 years.

| No way should any public body be throwing away money funding private sports clubs stadiums during a recession, and I disagree with the NHS/Council being involved in a Hull training ground for the same reason.
the KC was built from funds from a unique event, and was built in a very different economic climate. Also it was Rovers choice to build such a shocking ground in the middle of nowhere. Quite what the designers were thinking with the 'two stands facing the wrong way, tiny school pitch with no drainage' set up I don't know. A properly built Craven Park would have only needed minor repairs 20years on, not a complete overhaul as is needed now.

They are actually looking to reduce police, fire, housing, social services, transport, drug programmes, single parent refuges, and these no marks demand a stadium.
