| Quote ="PAUL M"Well I think Yeaman has been good this season but better in the games where he has had some decent ball to work with. We lost last night and fans are saying drop Yeaman and play Hall. Criticise all you like but Yeaman did absolutely nothing wrong last night, he defended well, scooted the ball up and made some runs off Manu but never got the ball. What did he do that you were not happy with?'"
I'll look at the wider picture. How many games this season has Yeaman been MOM ? Either sponsors, or if you prefer, the MOM threads on here. I will tell you that I don't think he has been once. He regularly fails to make the top 3 in our polls. Turner, Whiting, Tansey and I think Briscoe all have been in and around there and have all had home MOM awards. How many times do we come away from a game thinking Yeaman has had a stormer ? - you know the kind of game where he does something that has changed the game - beaten a man and made a lengthy break for example. Imposed himself on the game. Backed up a line break and gone in unopposed under the sticks. He hasn't done it. Hall has, Turner has, Tansey has. My problem is that he seems to have a guaranteed starting berth yet both Turner and Whiting have played consistently better than him. I don't think this helps him - it's all too comfortable. So my point about him is over a season and not just last night.
For balance I am one of Whiting's biggest supporters but I would drop him for the derby purely based on the totally unnecessary half d attempt of a pass to Tickle that cost us 6 points early in the game. It was a pathetic piece of play and he wants his kicking for it. Great break and timed pass by Turner mind.

I agree totally but I think that the 6 points that went begging were probably more about having Whiting on the wing. I like Whiting as a player but having someone as slow as him on the wing was always going to cost us sooner or later. There's probably not another winger in SL who doesn't score himself there.

Which kind of backs up my point about Yeaman's auto place in the team. Calderwood on the wing, as he is a winger, and either Whiting or Hall at centre in Yeaman's place.
Based on this year does anyone seriously think that would weaken us a lot ? I don't.

I certainly don't. I have never subscribed to this Yeaman lovefest on here. I've had the same opinion for a long time now that he is nothing more than average at best and probably earning way more money than he's worth.

| Going one step further, having Yeaman, Horne, Radford and Dowes as automatic team selections is very concerning to me. No matter how ordinary those players are, they are guaranteed a place in the 17.

Totally agree with that. If Calders is fit, play him

I don't understand why he didn't put Horne in the 20's?

Yup, our first break down the right where whiting had to pass it back inside would of been a wingers try. He cant keep whiting on the wing forever. Needs to find him a position
