The Champions Schools tournament is huge with schools taking part from all over England as well as Scotland and Wales. Sure the figures are something like 30,000 secondary school pupils take part in it each year, the figures are rising year on year as well.
Hull schools are very strong with Winifred Holtby year 7's winning the Yorkshire Cup.
I work at St Marys College and our year 10's were Yorkshire Cup Finalists and National Cup Quarter Finalists this year, with 4 of our players representing Hull and HKR foundation sides.
To place the blame at schools is madness.
