| Quote ="Ian P"Why do people persist with RH
I have listened to RH since it started broadcasting on rediffusion, helpfully telling us which area was going to get a four hour electric cut next. I was a big follower of RH with RL on Sundays with Stan Hall was a must and guess what its nick name was back then ............. Radio robins nest. The head of programmes at the time Peter ???? had a bent towards one team, in fairness they where alot more balanced both on the field commentating and very carefull with off the field comments as well. Back then the two leaders of the great clubs got on well I could not imagine Roy Waudby allowing any RH sports reporter to utter anything underhand or nasty about Bill Land and vice versa. Now it appears its open season for one side to have a sly and often nasty dig at the other and by that I mean east to west. To FCs credit they have kept a dignifeid silence and they did take action against RH, RH got the RL to get FC to back of due to the BBC covering agreement. The got clever with that as well, crowing about rights of coverage etc etc.
Now one club has encouraged the open dislike of the other and RH have been involved as never before, they have not only embraced it they have revelled in reporting it. They where involved with the Cooke affair, they can deny it all they like, they where both salivating on the radio about it and gloating was painful. Their [iseptic peg[/i reporting might have been good reporting to them, they forget that they have now alienated more then half the population of Hull. Hull city and RH have another bad relationship, so its not just us and cracks have appeared in the KR/RH love affair. Signs are that a certain chairman has run his course and RH have now outlived there usefullness.
I feel for the journalists who work for RH and have and are struggling to do balanced reports against a background of bias, RH is there to report news not make it. Until the the whole top etchelon of the sports team is removed this will continue and IMHO will get a whole lot worse .
Until it does boycott RH and complain to the BBC
Is this really the station of Hall, Pulford, Clivvy and Tex Ritter ??????????????'"
During the Roy Waudby/Bill Last era I was working for the Hull Lottery - When I did Collections in the City Centre I would have my Lunch on the Pier. Bill Last lived in the Apartments overlooking the Pier/Humber and he would spot me (in Black and White striped car) and would come out and we would have great conversations about Rugby League in general. I cant imagine the present Rovers Chairman or for that Matter the Young Jimmy doing the same now. They are of a new generation.
I still are of the opinion that the Paul Cooke saga has a lot to do with the animosity that has been created but hopefully now that he has left the City things may improve.
By the way I HATE ROVERS as much as the rest but its only in a Rugby sense - I would always enjoy a decent conversation with any RL Supporter.

When I listen to a local radio station I don't want to hear the reporter being basics toward my team I just want the fact if they play bad and that is reported so be it ..Has for J Rule costing the Club money that up to the Board to sort out ..If I was you I would look closer to home and see how much your own club is losing and have a go at that person ps 99% I am at games home or away so I only listen when I am in the car on my way home to me it's" cartoon time " I don't miss game to have a BBQ

Many KR supporter friends of mine can see the bias, just listen too them for any length of time and it comes shining through
Quote ="el red"I do think the continuing spat from Rule is ridiculous though, especially coming from someone who cost your club tens of thousands for a childish mistake'"
You may think its ridiculous, I think he is keeping a stiff upper lip and his distance from them.
In what way has Sir James cost FC tens of thousands of pounds ??????????
and more to the point, what in the wide wide world of sports has that to do with this a discussion on RH
Quote ="el red"Why can't you all just get along and draw a line under it? '"
We can and have if you mean the Cooke saga ............
If you are refering to the continual sniping/funnies/bias that is wrapped up as sports news reporting on RH then you better ask them not us.
You could ask why your chairman is at odds with RH about some of there reporting on matters monetary and why they continue to avoid any references to it in any programme.

| I cant remember what was said at the time, people are mentioning the Cooke and Reardon sagas but had RH said anything other then how pathetic the club were in either situation it would have been biased, the club needed no help in making themselves look very stupid.

| Radio Humberside and the HDM both fall into the category of pathetic, ameatuer local media outlets. Until people stop bothering with them standards will never improve. Why listen to or read something that clearly annoys you just so you can moan about it later? I dont bother with either and I can honestly say I dont miss them one little bit.

| I listened to the game on Friday and thought it was radio humbersides usually rubbish commentary, never know who's got the ball or where it is on the field. Gwillam is one of the worst for this no doubt and often drifts off into stories whilst the game is going on.
I agree lloyd is a red and often finds it hard to disguise it even when he is praising FC, which he did a lot on Friday, he was the one who called the comeback at 28-12 even. Not sure he was commentating with him, think it was Murdoch who was massively biased to FC, quoting that the ref was spoiling the game, being petty etc giving 3 pens in a row to saints, then praising the ref for giving 3 pens to FC.. when O'meley put Roby down, Murdoch said he took him with and elbow but what else was he supposed to do???
I find the whole RH humberside set up pretty poor, but is it any less biaised than KCFM is to FC? Is lloyd any more biaised tha Doyle Davison was in the past, I remember listening in the 80's on RH and he was ludicrously biased..
As for the Cooke saga, it was big news in RL, RH seemed to get the lead on it. It was a sore subject for FC but any journo worth his salt would have filled his boots. I agree with the criticism of Burnsy on the Reardon 'Smack my B1tch up ' thing, he went too far on that and making jokes about it lowered him to Forum levels and not sports editor of a BBC station.

I agree Murdoch is very pro FC, but no more so than Chris Park is Rovers biased, so those 2 even each other out.
The issue for me is that the rest of the team, Lee Richardson and Nick Pinkney, are also Rovers supporters. Then the rugby league editor, whom you should appoint on the basis of their knowledge of the game and ability to provide insight and reasoned analysis, is also a Rovers supporter. It's embarrassing.
I go back to the contrast of the commentary Lloyd provided on the Dobson drop goal against Bradford last year to get a draw, with his reaction to a second half performance on Friday, (described in the Yorkshire Post as "one of the most stunning comebacks the Super League has seen as they rocked St Helens with four answered tries in a breathtaking second half at the KC Stadium."icon_wink.gif - you could hear the disappointment in his voice on Friday whereas at the Bradford game he was hailing it as a "where were you?" moment of epic sporting importance. Ridiculous.

| The thing about bias is for local reporting the people listening to the broadcast expect there to be some bias to their team, I am sure on other local stations this is the case. On RH we get the opposite!
BTW, does anyone know whats happened to DDD, did he just retire ?

I never heard the commentary on the Dobson DG so can't comment on that but during his commenatry on Friday he was getting very excied at the FC comeback (more excited then me I'll tell you.. ) I agree in yesterdays summary he did say it was a controversial win without substantiating the why (assume it was O'Meley / Roby).
personally if I was an FC I'd listen to FCFM as a rovers fan I seldom bother with it.

Indeed. And the irony is that I didn't think his commentary of the game on Friday was that bad compared to some of the shockers he's come out with over the years. He was very critical of the ref when we were being pinged constantly in the first half, for instance. He also seemed genuinely enthusiastic about our comeback in the second half.
I didn't listen to the after-match stuff particularly so can't comment on what might have been said then.

I guess it was partly the contrast of the borderline carnival atmosphere/singing etc coming out of the stadium to the flat aftermatch tone when we got back to the car and switched the radio on. I'll admit I'm oversensitive about these things, but Mr B is much more reasonable and he commented on it before I did.

| I ilstened on the way home to the after match stuff and I didn't really notice any real bias against us. At one point he pointed out to a Rovers texter that we also had some influential players missing etc.
Yes he does have a bias towards Rovers and we all know it however it certainly didn;t come across to me on friday night.

To be fair DDD admits he a Hull supporter, palyed and coached them for a long time, Gollom just a T*T.
Saying that I have switched th KCFM now DDD had quit, he was awful the worst commentator I have every heard. i quite like KCFM except the adverts they talk about the game instead of the b*llocks humberside spout 50% of the time.
Still a bit biased but they are going to me arent they?

If DDD had regularly commentated on Rovers games or hosted a supposedly neutral sports magazine programme then you might have had a point. As it happens you don't.

| DDD and Chris Park (or Ian Wise before him) used to share Radio Humberside commentary on the two Hull clubs - if I recall correctly the Doyle did away games for both teams. It was only in the mid 2000s that the Doyle became the regular Hull FC commentator for them.
