How exactly do you ignore a constant stream of penalties against you?

Funnily enough, the impartial Radio5 Live 'Extra' doesn't share the same opinion. They are saying that Saints have had a dominant few minutes and the defense cannot handle it.

5 Live aren't all that impartial - they have a tendency to favour whoever they think are the bigger side and/or the favourites to win. That said our defence hasn't been that great all season IMO. Most likely a combination of some iffy decisions and not dealing well enough with the consequences.

For instance, that last try sounded like just plain poor defence. Thank goodness Hall isn't on the wing, eh?

Wide defence on both sides is rubbish. Saints are the better team, don't get me wrong, but the ref's decisions early on clearly favoured them - pretty much the only penalties we've had have involved a linesman running on. Game over at 18-6, just a question of trying to avoid an embarrassment now. We are entirely incapable of stopping the offload, so could be a long 2nd half.

At the game. First half ten minutes we looked the dominent side, one try and our heads went down. Saints are playing well, really well but our defence is simply an invitation to score points. You can see the try coming from the play the ball, one pass to the wing and our defence is no were to be seen.

Shocking, Whitings having a mare as is Long. Why we're moaning about Bentham i don't know, our discipline is awful.

While our defence is the reason, Bentham has been beyond awful.

I don't think I am disagreeing. Horses for courses. We have a glut of centres/second rowers who often are asked to play out of position in what is becoming an ever more specialised game.
