16's is too late to scout players. Hull and Mel Harman in particular need alot of credit for out of town and signing up some of the best players from Yorkshire.

I really dont see the point in Service Area once Foundation sides start playing if anything its typical BARLA not wanting to feel undermined digging in and demanding that it continues.

But still contested 1 of the only 2 finals you can get to....so would say we was more succesful that yr.

That is the age they do make big changes believe me.

I know of 6 players who have been picked up this season. Both FC & KR are monitoring several players in the 15s (16s nxt season)next season..Players from our club (16s), were signed professional last year for KR, FC & Harlequins after never been through scholarship.
It is never too late to scout players professional clubs do the most serious scouting between the ages of 16-18.

Good job your not coaching the scholarship sides then, because they believe service area is important for development of potential players. Crooksey thinks it is important and hopes to make some games depending on their fixtures but wants to see the dvd's

I'm not disputing the fact physically players tend to even off in terms of size at 16/17 however i was referring to core skills instead of physical size. If we simply sat around not doing anything untill players hit 16 we would be behind the 8 ball in developing these players core skills. Early identification of a top prosepect is vital.

They may be getting monitored however i dont think playing in Service Area games against players not deemed good enough for a Foundation setup is going to make a blind bit of difference.

More players had to get signed up at 15's and 16's due to SL clubs been allowed to sign up more players otherwise the player pool wouldnt have been deep enough to make the new foundation setup a sucess.

Totally agree, some players will go right through the system and possibly end up playing SL(very few though), however also it is not only about size at 16s, the 4 year variance accounts for players learning the core skills at different rates, if you talk to Crooksey it is not about being good enough at all, they are only allowed so many, just because a kid is in now does not mean they will stay in, the service area games gives academies a chance to watch other kids who they are interested in and how they respond to big games. It really is simple

I wouldnt want to do it and have turned down the chance to do a Service Area before.

How players perform in Yorkshire Leagues against other sides with their top players in will hold alot more weight as opposed to Service Area games due to the higher class of side they will be playing against.

I'm sure the scouting network, scholarship systems, Yorkshire/National camps of excellence and defined pathways players have now is exactly the same as what it will have been when Peacock was coming through the system nearly 20 years ago.

I said Scholarship side, not service area you have to win a league to coach at scholarship level.
