On a postive note, I thought Horne, Long and Fitzgibbon looked good and your following was very good for a Friday night.'"
The Hull following was fantastic for a Friday night. The official figure was 2,100(ish) which is a great effort and you deserved to see a better and more disciplined preformence.
The real plus point for Hull tonight I thought was Richard Hornes preformence. He caused us(Hansen especially) no end of problems everytime he took the ball in.

| Was Long fit? He did no long kicking.
Horne once again our best player.
Penalties killed us, we never had ther ball and we therefore had too much tackling to do, we showed when we did have it we could score tries.

At 12 - 6 you split us (Wigan) open with some superb rugby but didn't take the final pass.
Then just before half time you failed to find touch, we got a good bounce for Roberts to score.
Then in the second half we got a little lucky with Sam Tomkins second try.
It's a long season and you will get the run of the ball in some games (I hope it's not against us)

| Horne and Fitzy really stood out for you guys. Also, that Lauaki shows great enthusiasm - really doesn't half get stuck in!
I like the Hull set up, it's just at the moment, at home, we are on fire. Obviously the ref wasn't the greatest, but as has been mentioned your discipline seemed a little off with a lot of the penalties conceded around the PTB.
Chin up and here's to a good season for Hull.

No it was because we lost the collision, they were getting up too fast, we tried to slow them down and got pinged for it time and time again.

would have to agree with that. Wigan went straight to knees on nearly every collision, but were up and ready to go far quicker than hull. Hull could not contain this. In contrast Wigan had hull on their backs in the tackle and so controlled the ruck.
This simple difference contributed to the penalty count and thus field position and possession.
It wasn't that Hull weren't inventive with ball in hand, we split them a few times, we just didn't have the ball much.
In contrast Wigan had the ball and were very well drilled in attack. We were shown how to play EFFECTIVELY last night.

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"Sorry, but I'm entitled to an opinion and mine is that our attitude and energy was poor in a game where we should have been fired up as top spot was at stake. Our forwards failed to get on top. Our discipline was atrocious. We lost the ball in poor positions and failed to make touch with penalties twice. Our backs were shown up defensively out wide. I appreciate that Wigan are the form team, but come on, we had only one injury and only got 18 of our 24 points when Wigan had put the cue on the rack. To have nearly 50 put past us isn't really something we should be merely shoulder-shrugging about. IMO.
'"
Spot on Mrs B.
If I didn't know better, I'd have reckoned that they'd stopped in Weir Bar for a session before leaving Hull. So completely not at the races (with a couple of exceptions) that Wigan could have put more on us without a problem.

Terrible attitude tonight - we were so not up for the game. Perhaps after Agar saying we'd "earned the right" to be in a match to go top. Bollox.
First half discipline shocking - a ridiculous amount of penalties and a lot of them late in sets too, Radford the main offender.
Tansey had a nightmare in parts. Failing to find touch with that penalty near HT was inexcusable.
Backs exposed in defence too.
Richard Horne looked good, Houghton made an impact and O'Meley had a good 2nd spell. A good comedy try by Long as well.
But in short, flattered by the scoreline and miles off Wigan's standard. They are so well organised - in a different league.'"
right on the money there me thinks, no steady yourself for the barage

| last night was the first and last time i'll be going this season.
nothings changed since last year.
its the same predictable one out attack with the occasional suicide short pass.
half the team dont look bothered.
its still got to be the thickest set of players ever assembled.
whenever the opposiiton put more than 2 passes together they score.
and lee radford spends half the time doubled over knackered, the other half hes having a rest on top of a tackled player and getting penalised.
one more whinge... is mark o'meley affraid of tackling?

| Can I just say you Hull fans have done yourselves proud tonight, both at the game and on this board. Very rarely do you see opposition fans giving such well balanced opinions after such a defeat. I said on this board pre-game that our forwards needed to at least match yours for our backs to win the game for us. They more than did that. On the plus side for Hull, I wouldn't neccessarily be too despondent. As many of your posters have pointed out, this Wigan side would take anyone apart with that much possession and you showed your ability to attack when you had ball in hand. It's the discipline that let you down. Correct that and you'll win more than you lose. Someone said earlier that the play the ball was policed at 2 different speeds, but it wasn't. Wigan were simply dominant in the collision and were getting ready to play the ball WAY faster. That's where the pens came from and, in truth, I don't know how a sin-binning wasn't handed out, particularly to Radford. However, your pack has the ability to sort this. They will win the collision against most teams. They just came up against a more enthusiastic, faster and better drilled side last night.
Great support tonight guys, and good luck for the rest of the season.

Sums it up perfectly for me Mrs B. Especially about our backs being shown up, you could see them being sucked in time and again instead of staying in position. If we had kept man for man we may have fared better last night. Long was never fully fit for the game or at least he did not look it to me and the majority of our supporters.
Lets see how we turnaround for Bradford this week though, it is always a good sign of a teams charachter.

| It was your discipline that was killing you. Your forwards are very big - IMO the second best pack in Super League behind Warrington - but they are very slow. Our quick PTB was costing your lads big time. Lee Radford though is a penalty machine.
I thought the turning point in the match was when you bombed a chance to level the game up. You made a break mid-way through the first half and through the ball over the line. Had (whoever it was) taken that it could have been a different game. Without trying to sound too big headed against teams like us you have to take them opportunities.
Hull FC showed some promise at the end with a couple of tries to take some gloss of the Wigan performance and make the scoreline look a little better, but don't be fooled, Hull FC were well beaten last night.
On a more positive note I thought Richard Horne had a brilliant game. Sean long was a marked man and given no room at all and perhaps we neglected Horne and he made us pay a few times. I have never really rated him until now. Fitzgibbon is a real workhorse. Not a long term investment, but he is doing a great job for you.
Kudos to the travelling supporters btw. Fantastic effort on a Friday night (2130 was the figure). Great stuff and as in terms of bragging rights you brought more than Hull KR.
