He's not playing badly as such he just isn't that good a player and certainly not as good as some on here make him out to be.

As for Washbrook. Whilst we have a coach that prefers the safety first approach and keeping things tight down the middle Washbrook will have very limited opportunities in the pack. Unless we have several injuries I cant see him being used in the backs either so I dont see where his game time is coming from this year which is only going to hinder his progress. Perhaps a loan to another SL club is the answer?

The problem is, if Agar wants to keep the "safety first" formation then he'll not see any need to develop Washbrook in a more creative mould, so he may not see any value in loaning him out.

Maybe in a few months when our position in the table has been consistent (as in after 10 games or so) the club will look at the value of loaning players out, or even allowing them to go on dual contracts.

I just think he is so far down the pecking order now that even with several injuries he wont get a game so rather than us paying a player that needs gametime to sit in the stands, we might as well get some of his wages paid and give him the chance of some gametime.

I don't disagree, I just cannot see anyone being loaned out until the shape of the season has become clearer.

Not sure that this actually applies to Washy, but imo the club all too often seem to bulk players up too much. It seems to me that in the past if we have a young kid with a bit of pace who is a good winger or , we bulk them up, they lose their pace and end up a 2nd row. If we have a young creative half back we again bulk them up so much that they lose some of their creativity and again end up in the 2nd row or at loose man.

I would suggest Tommy Lee and Graeme Horne as examples of this.

Houghton's job is to come on and run from dummy half and use his speed to find holes in a tiring defence. IMO the only game he has done this was the Quins game, the other three he added no impact. It's for that reason I would drop him as I think Turner could do a similar job if not better and gives us more options.

It's because the majority of people on here seem to enjoy putting player's down and are too quick in writing them off as not good enough etc.....
IIRC it's not that long ago that quite a lot on here were saying that Washy should be the future captain of Hull FC.

I like Washbrook and think he'll make a top a player, but I agree with those that say he really needs to be playing regularly. I don't think sending him to the championship will do him much good either. FWIW, if we signed him, I'd be pretty chuffed.

What it did for Hall was allow him to regain his confidence, and maybe polish up his defence a little. Washy has no lack of confidence and his defence is just fine.

Agreed. As ive said before its because players like Washbrook and Lee played every week last season that we was so tosh.

Washy is a SL player but sadly not one that should be playing for a top side.

It's strange that any one can say this considering the 2 seasons he played in his position we finished 2nd and 4th and reached a grand final! Go figure!

I hardly think he is suggesting that we did well just because Washbrook was a 13. It does however pour a little cold water on some folks claims that we'll never be a top side with players like Washbrook.

Danny is a very good player and has been very valuable to our squad over the last few years,agar rates him very highly but its just one of them things that atm we are in a very strong position in having a great squad and the size of it too,players are going to be dissapointed as rich cant please everyone,its a good position to be in,we are 4 games in and have had the luxary of keeping pretty much the same team so far,its great not to be worrying about injuries for a change,only had longy so far and we have coped well apart from the one blip at crusaders,long may it continue,im sure during a very long season all the players will get there chance,the trouble is danny is in my opinion a 13 and atm he will struggle to get a game there.
