| Sure we can wipe the slate clean, that is not a problem.
The problem will be enxt term with six down and nowehre to go yet again, then it will take more then the coaches head to fall.
Maybe Jimmy's as well, because this club can not take another season like the last two and maintain the level of support. I can wipe the slate clean, but I thnik it will be back out with fresh impressions on it with in weeks of the start of next season. I am not convinced he knows what he is doing, his substitutions have most experienced watchers of the game baffled.
We shall see, I for one will stand up and apologise if I am wrong and I truly hope I am because if I am right this decision will have deep and far reaching implications for the clubs future.

I agree that if we fail next year that given Rule has inexplicably backed Agar with gay abandon that he has put himself in the position that he must go aswell.

Too right, Agar will take us nowhere other then the bottom of the table [iagain[/i.
I know Hudds lost, but yests final proved that changing the coaching setup at the right time can give dramatic results. Both Wire and Hudds are proof of that. Why is it our inept Board can not see it???

Nothing dramatic about the last 2 seasons, last year we got the injury spin, this season we got the not his team spin, Kear & Sharp were binned for much less.
If Agar turns it around next season all well and good, however judging by this season very few are filled with much optimism. If relegation were still in place he would have gone a long time ago. My fear is you can provide the best players in the world however if he does not know how to coach/interchange/have game plans it will be more of the same. And also as pointed out on numerous occasions a good coach can go into any team and get results e.g quickly Smith/Brown.

| Its a tough one really. We will improve as a team just through the change in personnel next season and I'd expect us to finish much higher up the table. How much of that will be down to Agar and how much of it will be down to the new players coming in I'm not sure but I'm yet to be convinced that Agar can get the most out any group of players on a consistant basis. Having said that, he WILL be our coach next season so I tend to agree with Lee (the OP) and we should at least give our support to the team and coach at the start of the season and see how we go.

Without a doubt, and I am sure every-one will, it will [uhave[/u to be a start similar to the start of this campaign or the pressure lid will start to seriously simmer.
I genuinely hope Rich and the team can deliver next season, like most though I am very apprehensive.

Kind of agree, but we are NOT getting rid of him now, that's clear, so the issue is, do we support him and hope for change, or still moan. I have my doubts, but given the debate of 'shall we get rid' is an acedemic one, I prefer support and wait, rather than critercise and wait.
Good point about the start of the year, he was picking the side. But I remeber a quote in the HDM when we won 5 from 5 and on the back of a GREAT display against Bradford (Before we learnt they were cr#p), that AGAR said "The great start has even surprised me", and I thought then - nice guy, poor leader. Wrong choice of words. "We're bonded as a a group, doing the little things right, and concentrating on one game after another, that way the results take care of themselves" would be leadership. So, like I said, AND many have said, the critisim of AGAR is easy, and we all have doubts, but I'll hold back now for next season.

| And.................... We critisise our board, but we don;t really know what's gone on. We know AGAR is contracted for next season, and therefore I assume if they sack him, we'll have to pay him compensation.
So, put yourself in Rule's position, as a CE, I'm sure he has contingency plans for (a) we have to get rid of AGAR quickly, (b) we have to get rid during or at the end of next year (c) Agar has a great season and we need to sign him up etc........
If we were a fly on the wall, and Rule was hard on Agar, saying the pressure was on, and we could not tolerate these results, and AGAR explains that some of these player's are not training right, not trying, moaning when Thackery is dropped for Moa (Tickle) and not trying. If due to injuries he can't 'cut them out' and he lacks the Leadership Skills to turn them around (which we all worry about), maybe he's given Rule an ultimatum. Let me build the right squad, judge me by 5-10 games next season, and if we haven;t met the following criteria, I'll resign, with no Compensation. Then from a CEO perspective, he's protected the club from a liability of compo. Git a committed coach who's incentivised, and the only issue outstanding is belief. Any maybe James still believes that there is a chance Agar is right, or it gives him longer to find the right solution, and a side bet that Agar will come good, either way, no Compo.
If that was me............................. I’ll be bold and make sure the criteria to judge Agar was challenging, definable and clear, then do what’s happened. Criteria would be, win 7 from first 10, compete in every game, both halves, etc etc etc......... But if YOU were Rule, and this was the choice (and the Compo was YOUR Money), and there’s not a long list of world class coaches begging to come here, what would YOU do.

as rule knows enough about rugby league to decide who to sign he should see that we have no game plan, no idea on tactital subs and no moral.
if the players aren't trying, turning up with alcohol in their system or smoking at training sack them.
true theres not a long list of world class coaches wanting to come thats because theres not alot of world class coaches. why not try to find the next big thing in coaching? scout the world look for advice from the world class coaches, even go for a older coach (murray?) to over see it as DOR?

| Wiping the slate is not an issue tbh. It would seem that a good number of fans wanted Agar to have gone due to the poor showing of the team under his stewardship and like me feel he is not the right man to take this club forward. However we will all get behind the team as next seaon starts but for me the unless Agar gets HIS team off to a great start with entertaining and committed rugby he and the club will feel the backlash of the fans who do not want to pay or see another failed and wasted season

Fully Agree, Let's hope the team storm into next season, and we have a year like Hudds, and when we chant "Richard Agar's Barmy Army", we'll do it with a clear conscience of being 'constructive' in the solution. And if he fails, we can demand "agar out" with a clear conscience

| The problem is we had a storming start this year with 5 straight wins, then look what happened
Personally I will not be measuring in the win/loss, for me I want to see commitment, dedication, entertaining rugby and most importantly PRIDE to be playing for our great team. IF Rich can get this from HIS team I will be happy with that for these ingredients will deliver the goods. I want to feel excited on match days again and sit in the stadium feeling entertained.

| From what I have seen of Agar,he seems to be a decent sort of guy.Is this the problem maybe? No proof of course, but if he is trying to be the "players pal" does this work? I have said before, don`t we need a kick up the ass type of coach? a Fergie or Brian Clough type of personality.Just a thought.

Yes I know, we see it in amateur players will put their bodies on the line for there coaches, whom they respect. I am not defending Agar but it is clear some of the players have no respect for Agar and that they are too far up their own @rses they feel they can not bother showing up, so it will be interesting to see what does materialise next season when Agar has his own team, like I have said previously we may be surprised.
We may realise most of the blame was not Agars but the players he had to deal with.
