Im not overly optimistic, I can just see that this is one area we are doing a lot better in. All the major areas of need have been adressed, the well known trouble makers are on there way out and our best youngsters are being tied down to long contracts, these are facts nobody can deny.

Fwiw I dont believe agar signed all the players or resigned current ones, I do believe rule and hetherington have learnt their lesson over length's of contracts given to australian players.

We could hardly have done any worse to be fair. We're pinning our hopes on ageing players by and large which is a high risk strategy. It may come off or it may fall flat and we'll be back to where we've been most of the last 3 seasons. They're also short term fixes so let's hope they're also planning for the longer term

That I agree with you on, there is plenty evidence to suggest both, but at least they are adressing the right areas!

Briscoe and washy are our 2 best players and are signed to long contracts, plus the kid from the acadamy being given a contract. Also our u18s have a few very promising players.

Any fool can see where we're deficient and throw some money at someone to top up their retirement fund. Doesn't make it a good decision. Personally, I think the signing of long may turn out a poor decision based on his high likelihood of injury.



All well and good but none of them are the top quality half backs the club needs to start prodcuing although long may have a positive impact in this area.

There is absolutely no doubt Richard Agar is staying for at least a year, the best we can hope for is that Longey & fitzgibbon chips in with some coaching and advice. The team IS starting to look good on paper nobody can deny that! I just cant see Shaun Long sat in a losers changing room every week without saying something.

I think they have made a massive gamble on the recruitment. Long has been the best British SH by far over the past 10 years, but how many games has he got left in him and how motivated will he be? Fitzgibbon has been one of the most consistent forwards in the NRL over the last decade, rarely missing a game and often topping the tackle count – has he got anything left in him? Neither of them are spring chickens. O’Meley is currently out injured and has not been anything special for the past couple of years, are we expecting too much from him?

Like someone has already stated, it is too early to tell. If they all arrive, if they stay fit and if they produce the form we know they are capable of then yes, we will go very well next year. Any new recruit is a gamble, it just seems that Hull gamble more then most of the other clubs.

I'd disagree with that, it's because we haven't made the right choices in the past so find we have a load of average players to replace at the same time.

How many other clubs bring in, and put all their expectations on a couple of 33 year olds? If that isn’t a gamble I don’t know what is.
