Turner is coming to play in his prefered Loose Forward position?

Yeaman, R Horne and Berrigan, none of them where missed, looked a goodteam without them. The next 2 games may tell a story to Agar,

Horne will be 6 next year and Yeaman will be our No1 centre and that is were they belong.

It's no longer that straightforward. The team should be picked on merit not past achievement. If they play well enough to hold down their places then fair enough. Otherwise someone else plays. Neither have done anything to warrant automatic choice this season. They don't "belong" anywhere just like the rest of the squad.

IMO it is that straight forward and we will see what happens.

For me, Horne has had a poor season, and Washbrook has appeared this season to be a much better Stand-Off than him. However, for next season I would like to see Washbrook at Loose-forward, which would mean Horne at Stand-off, unless we sign someone.

I do think that Whiting at fullback, Tansey at 6, Long at 7 and Washbrook at 13 is the way to go, though.

At centre, I like yeaman. I think that he's a strong player, good runner, and everyone loves his signiture dump-tackle. However, in the last few games Hall as looked fantastic there. Always a danger to the oppositions try-line, quick, and with good defence. Next season I would like to see competition for places between Hall, Yeaman and Briscoe. All well as giving us 3 good centres, it'll also push them to be as good as they can.
Judging by recent form, I'd probably choose Hall and Briscoe over Yeaman, though.

However, due to their history and reputation within the club, I do think that Horne and Yeaman will be, if they don't get further injuries, constants in the starting 11. Which I don't agree with.

For me, next season we should line up as:
Whiting, Calderwood, Briscoe, Hall, Raynor, Tansey, Long, Dowes, Houghton, O'Meley, Fitzgibbon, Tickle, Washbrook, Subs: Lauaki, Moa, Manu, Berrigan. Gives us a strong pack, with plenty of creativity from people like Whiting, Tansey, Long, Houghton and Washbrook.

They belong there if they're the best in that position and they still are for me. Yeaman is still the best centre at the club and Horne the best off half. It was no coincidence that last night our pack was on top which allowed the half backs to play, how many times as that happened this season? The best half backs in the world can not perform behind a beaten pack and hopefully that's now been resolved with the recruitment for next year. It's all about opinions though and it would be dull on here if we all agreed.

For me both Horne and Yeaman have become too comfortable in their positions. I don't think that helps their own level of performance at all. Both are miles away from where they were when selected for GB. Sure what's happening around them will have an effect, however for me it is these senior players, and others, who have let us down the most this season in terms of level of performance.

ATEOTD all players should have to play for their place and be in on merit. If their performance is up to it they should be in. If not they should be out.

I was there last night and i cant think of a single thing Whiting did in all honesty. Its just seems people want to have him in the starting 13 and look for a way to pick him.

You can't think of a thing that he did? Were you spending too much time watching quins' kicking-tee carrier?

I cant think of anything he contributed towards its not as though he had a great kick return or set anything up with ball in hand.

His popularity amongst fans influnces their opinion on him as proved by the way people try to shoe horn him into their starting 13's.

Next season i cant see a place for him in our 17.

Actually, I thought he had a solid game. danny orr has one of the best short kicking games in SL and whiting never once looked troubled. Probably the fact that my heart was never in my mouth when the opposition put a kick in speaks volumes for how he played. He reads the game exceptionally well and looks well suited to any position he's played in. I can't really remember a player in my 30 years of watching the club who was so competent in such a range of positions

Well said. A top utility player who will play a lot of games during a season even if he isn't in any fan's starting 17.

Probably the most astute comment you have ever made (imo). Excellent squad player, great guy but not a first 17 man.

Most would agree, its been said to death over the last year or so that he's a victim of his own utility and actually he isnt better than any of our players in any one position. He will get a run next season though because we WILL get injuries.

Rich may not be first choice in any position if everyone is fit but the last few seasons tells us the scenario is extremely rare. We will unfortunately have injuries so players like Whiting in the squad are vital.
