Where did I say get behind players who don't give a damn about the club ? And if you think sticking kids in against men in a SL pack is a good way forward I hope we don't replace Agar with you.

| Quote ="Staffs FC"People should now lay off the Board regarding off field activities. This profit combined with the measures recently announced to improve comms and accessibility to the club are a long way ahead of most if not all clubs in the comp. We are more or less no.1 in this regard.
On the field recruitment for next year has improved. We have got some proven quality on its way in. There is a very strong case for replacing the coaching staff now however I believe this wont happen. IMO Agar and Sharp have the rest of this season and 10 games next to either demonstrate they can do the job or ship out. Not much can be done this season to save ourselves HOWEVER they can start giving players a chance to shine in alternative positions to where they have previously been. Change the structures and the selection policies. This would have a very positive effect on the terraces. Sticking the 21's in sounds romantic but, especially in the forwards, they would be killed at this level without being nurtured in. Instead give those players with a future at the club a chance to show what they can do. Let the fans know soon who is being released. Next year, with the added quality, we must see from game 1 defensive and attacking structures that are compatible with a 'real' Hull FC team. Below par performances should see an early exit for the coaches. In the meantime as Standee has said earlier it's vital the fans get behind the club. We will be better next year and the fans need to be a part of that.'"
Excellent post. Let's not forget also that we have IMO the best range of merchandise of any SL club, plus we get Hull FC.TV for free (even if you don't want to relive the horror shows of this season, at least you have the choice). Small things, but more evidence that off the pitch we're very good.
I do disagree about the coaching side though. The problem for me is that, whilst we do have some very good players coming in, for Long and Fitzgibbon we need to be getting the very best out of them straight away as they're hardly spring chickens. Let's say we lose the first 6 games of the season and sack Agar. We then mess around getting a replacement for a couple of months, or worse promote Sharp. Another season over before it's begun with Long and Fitz turning 35. We'd be better tapping up a top class Aussie coach now IMO and getting them in in November.

Just a quick question on your last point. If we was to get rid of agar, would the signed players have any legal case for pulling out of there contracts? if they say that they were mislead into the contracts by fc stating agar would be the coach!

I wouldn't be disappointed to see your wish come true but I don't think it will happen in the timescale you mention. The players coming in wont need to be coached in the basics of catch/pass/tackle which is a major challenge for many of our current squad. Instead it will be down to structures and tactics for Agar to demonstrate he can produce. Early failure should mean P45. Like I say if we appointed a top coach before next season I wouldn't be disappointed but I doubt very much it will happen - I think the Board have decided to show loyalty to the Club coach this year and not so much loyalty to the overrated local lads and heads who have previously enjoyed that facility.

Good point - I've heard of it before at other clubs. Don't know what the situation is TBH, but would doubt there's a get-out clause if Agar is no longer in role.

Its not really a clause though is it? It's more having the contract "anulled" through misleading information. It's a legal challenge that can(and has) stood in court.

I'm sure we could cancel some contracts now as some players have been pretending to be rugby players

Clubs play for money, not coaches. Anyway, I doubt anyone would complain if we replaced agar with someone who knows what he's doing

I think it is wrong. As far as I'm aware, debt repayment has nothing to do with P&L. Interest payments on the debt do

Exactly right, and that was how I read the post as well. Anyone linking debt repayment to profit is very wide of the mark.

I think that to be successful you would have to prove that the club [iknew[/i that Agar would be sacked before next season and deliberately misled the player(s) regarding his tenure at the time of signing.

There are no proven NRL coaches off contract, for next season,
But ..................
The season after......... Sheens,Hasler and Brian Smith could be available,
the same time Agar's contract is up for renewal.

No, it would go into the pockets of whoever lent us the money. Debt is a balance sheet item and doesn't relate to the P&L

No, as Jake's post says, debt is a balance sheet item. Repayment of it therefore has no impact whatsoever on profit. The club could make losses and still pay off some of the debt if cashflow was strong enough and they so wished/had to. Likewise there are plenty of highly profitable companies who still go to the wall over high debts.

I hope they choose wisely though, remember that clubs have to start showing some 'home grown' players increasing yearly. FC have already gifted the Robins some of their best players (Shaun Briscoe for one). I do not want to keep Huggie poaching some more to boost his morale, although maybe Judas taught him that it doesn't always pay off.

Some of our best players? Since they have been promoted they have signed an injury prone second rower from us, our second choice fullback (still overrated imo, Lee Smith showed how much better a fullback he is in the first half against us last week, Briscoe is Mr Average), and a young prop who was going very much backwards. Paul Cooke is the only player to have left who was a big loss to us, and he has hardly set the world alight in a Rovers shirt

Think we are one of the best in S/L for doing that...Burnett has burst through this season and Hodgson is looking good.....our back line could be all British next season
Tansey
Calderwood
Hall/Briscoe
Yeaman
Raynor
R.Horne
Long
That makes 7 homegrown players....then there are the others...Washy,Whiting,Radford,KingG.HorneHoughton,Lee,Tickle.

They're last year's accounts. I don't reckon we'd have been too far off then. This year it's pretty much common knowledge we have a fair chunk spare because of Crocker. Should post another profit next year then as well.
