Had a good game not the best on the pitch at all although anybody having a half decent game yesterday would of stood out.
Since his injury seems like he has lost a tiny bit of pace. got caught by quite a few people yesterday when making a clean break im sure a certain someone would have gone on to score the try made for them yesterday.

He's just not a hooker. He doesn't have the necessary speed, accuracy or distance when passing for a start, and that pretty much ends the argument.

Have always said that think the guys great but not a No. 1 simple.

His passing was very accurate yesterday when he kept getting caught in play x

Motu excelled at hokker when playing for NZ, and i think we should give him a chance there, and switch Berro to the halves. put Horne back to fullback for now aswell,

And rightly so. As much as I like Tony, his injuries are worrying. He's on a decent wedge too which I believe can be put to better use on an out-and-out fullback.

He's had less injuries over the last two or three seasons than, say, Raynor or Whiting.

Whiting returned from his career-threatening injury and has been one of our better players. He's a very valuable member of our squad and is worth every penny he's paid.

Raynor rarely has a bad game and is in my opinion, one of our best players. He's paid well but deserves it, he's a class act.

Tony just doesn't offer enough in terms of value for money for my liking.

Please tell us how much they are all on, you are clearly in the know.

As daft as it seems we need to shake things up so why not. We've seriously got nothing to lose.

I just dont get this Horne to fullback malarky. Other than catching the ball hes pants. He offers nothing. He needs to be in the line, not joining it. I thought Motu was superb yesterday considering it was his third game since a year out. Looked dangerous everytime he got the ball.

Exactly. I really can't see what he offers there. Apart from 'safety', obviously, which appears to be enough for most people. I'd like to think we're more ambitious than that though.



Again, spot on. Fullback is perfect for him, ball in hand. He's very, very good at coming into the line as an extra pair of hands and providing a link (as he showed in the build-up to a couple of the tries and in the passage that, ultimately, lead to Brough's try), with him having very good timing with short, line-splitting passes and with him being enough of a running threat to draw defenders in. It's something that isn't really possible from any other position.

This is in contrast to Horne, who is much more of a threat with a bit of space, a few options around him and someone like Tony running off him wide to keep the defence on the back foot. Horne attacking from fullback doesn't get enough room for his strengths to be used and he doesn't have the game to come from deep, hit the line at pace and pop a little short pass. He needs space to dummy, drop his shoulder and go or look for an offload. He needs space to find a runner, like Tickle, coming back on an 'unders' line. He needs space to hit someone like Tony on a wedge or to throw a cut-out pass to the centre. As a fullback, at third receiver, getting the ball deep as a wedge runner, he doesn't get this space. Tony, however, is much more of a threat when space is tight and a bit of acceleration and power or a short pass is required.

That's a good enough reason to stick him a full back.

Thats not what I meant, ball in hand when in the line, Horne is superb. Hes having a bum patch at the moment but put him next to a ball player (Cooke, Long et al) and he can cause havoc. not something he can do from fullback.

But we don't have a ball player this season so we need to play to our strengths (ok things we are less weak with)

and our strengths to me are having fullback as a first line of attack rather than a first line of defence.
