| Good signing - liked the kid when he was at Leeds.
Only worry is who was the last signing we made of a player who spent time in Australia

| Good signing for me, young, versatile and a real tryer although his defence is a bit suspect apparently.
Quote ="PAUL M"If he is signed to replace Tony then I am disappointed as I think he can be a bit of a liability at fullback. If we are signing him as our utility player then he is a good signing as he can cover al of the back positions and hooker. Hopefull he has signed as the utility player and that should mean no room for Thorman as Tansey will cover 6 & 7 but I fear this will be the end of Tony which is disappointing.
He is a pretty skillful player and has a decent kicking game so it's to have a footballer coming in.'"
By the sounds of the interview it seems as though he isn't coming in as first choice full back.

Like I said, we don't know if Motu wants to stay or go back to the NRL, I agree I am gutted if we are losing Motu and he wanted to stay.

| He'll be playing hooker
Only joking. I think this move allows Hull time to assess Motu know we have a player who can play there to a reasonable standard. But mainly this should be the death knell of thorman IMO as Agar hinted we wanted to carry another half unless we have somebody else lined up.

Agar specifically talks about him being able to come off the bench and make an impact, which would point towards him being used as a utility back rather than our starting fullback.
Might still be the end of Tony if we also sign a fullback, mind.
Pretty pleased with this signing, and with next season's recruitment in general. It seems as if our underlying problems have been identified and the will is there to make the necessary changes. Agar is doing a good job at identifying targets and the board are backing him by making the deals happen.
Quite a turnaround from the fiascos of the last few seasons.

Indeed. Think Agar will be our coach next year regardless of what happens this.

Agreed, we're being pro-active already, its got to get a reaction from our OOC players, Agars basically said "your not currently good enough, so some of you are going, here's proof" and the signed some lads.

If Motu were to go we could play Horne at fullback and Tansey in the halves with Long. As I said if he signed to come off the bench then he will be a top signing, he can cover various positions and make an impact in most of them. His experience of playing in big games at Leeds and playing in the NRl will also serve him well.
It does make a change to see us being more proactive in our recruitment.

| I wonder what is left to come? A prop or a centre, if it's a centre then I do wonder if it's the end for Whiting at Hull as Tansey would take up the bench utility spot.
Also if Tansey is play off the bench with say Houghton as hooker off the bench then it only leaves two spots, so it looks like we will have one prop and one backrower which does suggest that Fitzgibbon will move to prop at some stage during games.

| Really pleased! This has definitley been a positive week for the club.
Not only am I impressed by the quality of signings but I am also impressed in the way in which the club have gone and got the players Agar has identified. Maybe the poor run of late and last seasons dissapointment plus how well Hull KR are doing has given the club the kick up the jacksy it needed.
Looking forward to shedding some deadwood in the off season and with 4 quality players set to come in plus hopefully a quality prop then I think we're only lacking a centre and our team not far off complete.

I would renew Lee , Thackray, Maloney, Moa and a toss up between Whiting/Horne as we cant keep them both IMO
On too the Tansey signing, good signing imo he has a lot of potential and was surprised Leeds got rid TBH and he can play a number of positions which is a bonus

Would go with those in bold, think Moa with a bit more game time could turn in to a useful player. Would be happy to see the rest leave.

That's definitely the impression I got listening to JR last night. He made the point a couple of times that RA had pretty much inherited the current squad, and he shouldn't be judged until we have seen how 'his' team perform.

On the face of it I could possibly see Thackray, Maloney, Hodgson & Whiting with question marks on Lee, Motu & Cusack, but possibly maybe only one or two from that list.

| Particularly like the bit about him being a character. For me the recruitment of players of this type is exactly what was required and in Tansey Longy and Fitzy we have players who can hopefully change our side from being a quiet team to one where everyone wants to be involved. Lack of communication and verbals on the pitch has been of the major issues since Crooke left.

Definitely keep whiting as he is a good squad player. That said if he wants more money than his place in the team then he would have to go
Thackray has been playing well and maloney has shown enough in limited game time for me to warrant another deal. Dependant on whether we sign another prop i may also keep Moa on IF there is no-one else available
Hodgson is only a young kid and needs another year at least of fulltime training to show if he is good enough
Other than that thorman has not been good enough, cusack takes up a valuable quota spot. Haven't included Tony as although he had done nothing wrong at fullback with tansey coming in and maybe a proper fullback then i feel there is no room at the club.
Despite playing well at times this year both Lee and Horne have to go as these are the players that have had enough time to show if they're good enough IMO and should be released as they are not good enough/utility which we have too many of
