Who is the long term solution that we have a realistic chance of getting, though? Not many class SHs in SL, a bunfight for any that might be available in the NRL.

And any coming available in the NRL which want to come to england, will no doubt be either coming up to, or over the age of thirty. So cannot be the long term solution either.

ideal situation imo sign myler on a 3 year deal and get orford on a 1 year for myler to learn from but more chance going to the moon

We should be looking to get a good young SH from Australia and build a team around him. Just look at how good Soward is now and we were rumoured to be after him 2 years ago. Dobson is another one who came over here to prove himself. I'm sure we could get someone for the right money.

I would never have Brough back...he isnt good enough!!! As we have siad before, good kicking game, good defence but poor with ball in hand!!!!

I dont get all the hype about Burrow as a SH either really? Sinfield does most of the organising and kicking IMO and Burrow plays more like a SO.

Theres plenty of scrum halves available in Oz. The problems are our board aint aggressive enough in recruitment and have no contacts whatsoever over there. They will be asking the current overseas players to do the recruiting next.

think exactly the same. they have had injuries to both maguire and burrow over past few years but sinfield never has and they don't look too much different without maguire or burrow on the field IMO

Nail on the head there mate. The Aussies are always banging on about their third string being better than our first 17!! Money talks. So long as they do their home work and don't bring a right duffer over it's probably the clubs best option. There's got to be more than one Dobson out there. I think there's too much talk of how there aren't any out there. It's playing into the clubs hands.

The warning signs have been there about Thorman the last 3 to 4 matches, but there has been no improvement whatsoever.Last night was the last straw with Thorman for me i want him dropped, out the squad asap.I would happily see a younster in that role learning, making mistakes but improving and gaing experience.

IMO we must do all we can to get Danny Brough back then pair him with world class stand off like Finch. Everyone goes on about Brough not being ablt to take on the line and only having a kicking game but a kicking game is what we drastically need and would turn us from a bottom four side to a top 8 instantly. Add in a couple of decent forwards (& weve just got one in Fitzgibbon) and wed be top four again.

I'd take Brough right now...god i would. It's all very well saying this or that player isnt good enough. We aren't going to turn into world beaters over night and should be aiming to improve on what we have year on year. Danny Brough would be a vast improvement on what we have now.

id be gutted if hull signed myler, hes got far too much potential to be wasted at hull (or wigan who ive heard mentioned for him). for his sake i hope he stays at salford and carries on being their main man or moves to leeds or saints, the only 2 sides in super league who know how to develop players.

Brough's never gonna happen. He has a distinct dislike for Hull. His kid's a Dobbin! When it was suggested to him he could just have easily have been a black and white the reply was a stern "I don't think so!".

I was saying to a mate of mine the other day that Hull should do what a lot of football clubs do and send some scouts or a scout out far and wide (in this case Oz and NZ) and look at 1st 2nd and 3rd grade players with a view to recruiting a suitable player.

We could send a cout out for 8-12 weeks with the remit to find a good up and coming srum half, like previously stated the Aussies 2nd and 3rd graders are often as good a player as our 1st teamers.

Agree, but the fact remains he's far better than anything we have in the locker now.

The name that always comes to mind when people mention players like that is Ben Barba at the Doggies who is a sensational player but is getting kept out by Brett Kimmorley.

Without a doubt but so is Jonathan Thurston and he won't be signing for Hull either!
