| I don't agree with starting Thackray, it's been proved that we are tougher to break down with Cusack and Dowes starting.

There were 15 minutes or so left when he gave that penalty, and we scored a try in that time. Hardly the deciding factor.
There were dodgy decisions in both directions. Fairly typical of the standard of refereeing IMO.
It was a close game, and over the 80 minutes we were the better side.
Simplez.

| We saw some encouraging signs that things might just be starting to come together.
Washy had his best game for a long while.
Danny H looks like he is learning from Berro and starting to know how to control a game.
Rich Horne looks very comfortable at FB
Whiting and Calders look like they may well be gelling.
Still concerned about G Horne and Yeaman's wing as it looks like a very weak link.
Radders and Thorman for me still not performing to the expected standard and would be the first two to miss out if we every have an injury free run.
At the end of the day a win is a win. We are playing poorly yet are just 4 points off top place. That has to be encouraging. We are far from a championship winning side, but thankfully the rest of the league is equally poor. A bit of confidence will work wonders as with a break during cup weekends.
Maybe just maybe the glass is half full not half empty.

| A good display considering we hardly had the ball for the first 20 mins and compounded that by making silly errors. Second half we controlled the ball better and made good yards from acting half through both Lee and Houghton. Only thing that was a real worry was the one up defence when we tried to grab shoulders and not legs.

If so,why do it?
Win some, lose some,if it wasn`t for a ridiculous refereeing decision,we would still be in the cup.

The ref kept you in the game in the first half and gave you the game in the second half.No way would five drives and a kick have been good enough to beat Cas if you didn't have your fourteenth man on the pitch playing a blinder.

Stop talking rubbish, whether Calderwood wasnt square or not doesnt matter the fact is that you cant grab hold of player off the ball like Wainwright did, so it was a penalty to Hull, if Wainwright had left Calderwood alone, and he had made the tackle it would have been a Cas penalty as he wasnt sqaure, but he didnt have chance.
Watch the game again the the officials got two decisions incorrect, the forward pass leading to our first try and when Ford put his foot into touch.
Better side won on the day.

| Wainwright only fell into Calderwood because of the way he stood on the ball.
Calderwood had his hands on Wainwright, which is technically interference although every player does it. Wainwright plays the ball but mistimes drawing his foot back to play it and scuffs it with his heel meaning he slips and as a result falls over into Calderwood. It was accidental, not deliberate, and therefore should have been play on. Anyone could see that.

Someone seems a little bitter.
Cas were poor yesterday. Hull weren't great, but were the better of the two sides. To focus on one decision is deliberately missing the fact that your team weren't good enough to win the game.

| Thought our 1st half performance was abysmal - TBH.
Our props made no impact, Radford as a captain, spent half the game on the bench.
Apart from his goalkicking,Tickle offered not much, his defence was poor.
2nd half, the team showed more enthusiasm, impressed with Houghton,Burnett, R Horne and Calderwood.

End of the day the decision rightly or wrongly (personally think it was the right decison but harsh as you see it happen many other times) didnt cost you the game, it was in the 65th minute so you still had chance to win the game, but you wasnt good enough.

| I'm really pleased with the two points and the effort put in out there.
Great to see Calderwood finally getting some kicks to chase, why has it taken so long for us to use his strengths?
I thought he has a great game alongside Houghton and Horne. Impressed with Thacks and Cusack as well.
Two weeks rest, Motu and Raynor back training, everything looks pretty good to me

Debatable.
All the media report we were the better out of the two sides. The Mirror, Yorkshire Evening Post both agree that they were bad decisions.
In a way they did contribute to our loss, but other aspects also demoralisingly cost us too. That penalty incident gave you the lead and also the impetus when really, it should have been the opposite way to us.
That first try of yours shouldn't have been again, and we should have been heading in at 6-0. That try lifted your spirits, and all too often the sides who score it come out better for it (which is what happened).
As for the final try, Calderwood clearly shoves Shenton while he attempts to shield it out, which again, should have gone our way. Swings and roundabouts really, but that should have been a loss in your favour really, not ours. Severely disappointed, but we have to move on. No time to cry about it really.

I admire your sentiments. As you say, these things even out.
I`m still agrieved about Salford winning on a forward pass.

| I felt it was an improved display, and Calderwood in particular is getting better with every week.
but still a lot to work on, and we failed to capitalise fully on Sherwin putting the ball out on the full about 4 times.
also Thorman was a passenger yet again! he did little to nothing, and his kick with 7/8mins to go was horrendous, 3/4 the pitch to aim at and he still finds the fullback!
it still wasn't fantastic but I think beating the other midtable sides and aiming for 6/7/8th is all we can hope for with this squad anyway

| A win is a win but we are so far away from the better teams in SL. I hate to say it but even our poor little neighbours looked very impressive at times with the ball against Warrington. Even their attack makes ours look nothing but slow, flat and easy to defend against.
As for referee's decisions, funny how the media didn't want to mention the ridiculous forward pass that set up Cas's first try and the full back running over his own dead ball line. Hull were very ordinary yesterday with a few highlights (Horne, Houghton, Washbrrok, Calderwood) but Cas were no better. I think that Hull's second half display was probably enough to seperate to very average teams.

| The table doesn't lie. We are exactly where we deserve to be and sneaking into the 7th/8th spot is about all we can hope for this season with our current sqaud. A side with no scrum half, very little go-forward in the pack and a coach who is out of his depth can hardly expect to be competing for the top spots in SL. We are an average side and that will certainly be reflected in the table by the end of the season.
Grinding out wins against Salford and Cas, albeit a welcome four points, has changed nothing. Our displays are far from impressive and mediocrity still blights our current squad.
As for Thorman ??? WTF does he do ????

| Quote ="ComeOnYouUll"Another nervy, nailbiting win.
I thought Danny Houghton went really well when he came on and Washy had his best game of the season so far. Calderwood continued his encouraging form. He is prone to the occasional mad moment but the sheer effort he puts in is great to see. He pops up everywhere and he is building up a promising partnership with Richard Whiting.
Thackray took the ball up well and Cusack and Dowes were their ususal relaiable selves.
Have to say I was disappointed again with Tickle, Thorman and Graeme Horne.
We need some good news on the Manu injury and hopefully Motu and Raynor will be back for the Wire game to enable changes to be made.
Could we just have a comfortable win every now again though, please?'"
Yes it was a clumsy win, but i was very pleased that we have started chucking the ball about a bit more. I don't mind if we knock it on a few more times in a game, it is much more entertaining to watch and it DOES work. Hopefully Agar will be happy with this and should let it carry on into the warrington game.
A good time for a week off IMO, Tickle is making bad choices in defence, which he didn't do in the first 4-5 games of the season. He plays 80 minutes a week, he's knacked! I would have thought with Burnett back, he may have been spelled, but now Manu's out, there's even less chance of a rest.
Well done Hull Fc

I think you've got it spot on, we are very average and we are only just going to sneak into the playoffs. But i'd be happy with that and grinding wins out against other mid table sides...IF we are given signs (like new signings in key areas like half back) that things are going to improve for 2010.

Takes his wages and spends it. The win against Cas must give you all some hope of a turn around in fortunes. In all seriousness, Hull have a decent squad, they just need a spark of a new signing in the half backs, and if your visa problems could be sorted out and get the calibre of player here that you have waiting, then the poor losing run you've just had will be a distant memory.
