| It will be interesting to see the outcome of the offshore payments scenario. Maybe our underwhelming recent singings and room under the salary cap will pay off. For what it’s worth, there are a few clubs sweating over this and one of them is not too far down the road from us.

| Quote ="VoiceOfReason"Dont be so fast in pointing fingers and making your own conclusions.
Being a supporter of Hull FC means you just dont give up (unlike 90% of other supporters not so far away from us).
Coaching a team with so many players FULL OF THE OWN SH-T and EGOS is usually a recipe for disaster wether you a good club / coach or not.
One thing is for sure...the supporters of Hull FC is envied within the RL world.
Cmon you uuuuullllllllll.'" Been going since the late 50s and i think i have seen a lot worse times than this.No relegation now and we have a top class stadium, big gates and first class facilities. What we lack now is a figure who runs the club and is prepared to kick on to the next level. The last person we had like that was the late Roy Waudby who was a passionate black and white and kicked us on to the top level.Call the dobbins but that is what they have in Hudgell,he hates us with a passion ,pity we don't have somebody with the same passion. We have wanted a scrum half for years and the present board will not cough up for a top class player instead taking the cheap option.Don't say Dykes because even though he was a top player it was well known before he signed that he was injury prone(big time)What do they do this season, sign Thorman.I think the last few few games when the going gets tough we have seen how one dimensional he is.We get rid of a coach and give an untried one a two and a half year contract, another one who when the going gets tough seems to lack any ideas. In his post match interview after the Wakefield match all i could hear was him mumbling between slurping his drink. He is like rabbit in the headlights, out of his depth(another cheap option).Compare him with the media whore Justine who just loves the limelight and instils confidence in his players. How much longer do we have to go on with the cheap option, Kath and Co want to remember there is a recession on and people will not spend there hard earned money on one dimensional play we are watching. Most of the supporters know we have injuries but so do other clubs,we can excuse that but we can't excuse boring five drives and a kick.I will always go whatever, but next season supporters who are feeling the pinch may decide not to buy their pass, their shirt, their drinks in the bar then Kath will see the income drop.Come on Hull get your act together and stop using the cheap option,it's a false economy.

| I agree with you dabhand
some have money they can afford to spend and not worry
some do not and i guess those that don't may be getting pretty tired of spending money on something that is boring, predictable, players that take their money and dont earn it, and poor value for money I AM
i had only missed 2 home games since 1975 up to salford in the cup. I decided to save my money and not go and glad i did after the result.
its a good job we only have 1 home game from now till 5th June. thats 7 weeks i reckon. so i only have to spend £22 providing the players get their act together during those 7 weeks.

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"You think?
From a long term perspective, I actually think we're fairly well set. We've got a great stadium, very strong community programme, a robust business model and will have some top class training facilities when the NHS partnership venue is finalised. More importantly, when the 2011 quota restrictions and homegrown requirements come into force, we are among the best placed to exploit them as we're pretty much operating at those levels already, whereas other teams are way off. We're spending up to the cap and hopefully can ensure that the 5 overseas spots we'll soon be allowed are populated with top class overseas players. Berrigan, Crocker and Lauaki are not too shabby. The big miss at the moment is creative personnel on the field, and an inability to form a gameplan to compensate for this and play to our strengths. Agar will either sort out the latter, or to quote David Burns on our last coach, will be "toast". When this happens, the club need to appoint a top drawer coach, or we'll just be stuck in this cycle.'"
I agree with what you say BUT and its a big but we have needed a scrum half for years now not just one or tow someone at the club needs to make a stand on this decision and go and spend some of the money been pumped into the club by us the fans
I will always support this club and look on the bright side at least you are black and white and not that colour form the other dark side of the city

without the fans and therefore income the club won't be getting another grade A license
nobody can deny that they run the club as a good 'business' we are one of only 3/4 SL sides making a profit...but there has to be a balance between being a good business and being a good RL team
people don't attend games just because we've got a load of ticks on a RFL franchise sheet

it does, we were guaranteed to be in SL for the next 9 years in effect, as I think we can only slip to a B this time, and then a C the time after etc
but the point still stands that they can't brag about an A grade license next time if the KC isn't 40% full, and we don't meet the income standards

If, at the next inspection, we get a B, that will be the three years at A, then three years at B, then at the next inspection (after 3 years) we get a C then we get another three years, making it 9.
The likelihood of us ever dropping below B is low, the stadium and youth and communiy work pretty much guarantee us the minimum of B.

| Quote ="ex west coast usa"My first game was in 1962 (only 6) and have been a regular follower since 1969 - I also saw all the 26 winning games in a season. I have been through the bad time (boulevard under 1000) but even though our players have been bad the effort was there for all to see. I used to go to games not to see us win but to see if we could score a try.
But the shambles that we have been over the last 2 years or so is to much for me to take - we are not a poor club but i am fed up of the cheap option - yes we sign or attempt to sign a class player every year (after all you only have to sign one to sell 1miilion pounds worth of season tickets - good deal when you also get the sky money).
but if you want a good team you have to invest in a good youth setup and an excellent coaching set up (we have signed some of the best youngsters over the last few years but have not had any good coaches to take them to the next level - with the result unfulfilled talent.)
An example we have in Richard Horne as a 16 or 17 year old a fantastic talent (in my opinion still a very good player) but with the right coaching and a halfback to learn from would have been world class.
The only way to change the situation we have is to force the board to change ( they see it as a business - I have no problem with this, but as long as you pay your money nothing will change. The only way it will change is if income starts to fall, and when this happens they will remedy the situation or sell).
The club have moved foward in so many commericial ways - community projects etc - but this will eventually become meaningless if the club declines - the club is its fan base - this is not football where fans are a necessary evil- in rugby fans are the life blood of the club.
Over the last few years I have had to make a decision on providing funds for my families education (university) and have not been able to see my club as much as /I would like - but I would always support my team in any way I could. However, enough is enough and I have now decided not to go to see this team anymore unless they sign a proper coach and proper scrum half. - I only hope that this is done soon as at the moment my passion and desire for Hull FC is on the verge of being non existant - I am starting to have no desire to watch RL at all.
If JR or any of the players, coaches read this forum please take note as I do not think I am by myself.'" i am with you 100%

So, are they not allowed to make a profit from their investment(eventually), and not meant to expect their loansto be repaid?
So, when the cub struggl we can expect directors to pump their own money in, but when we do well they can't take any of tha money back?
Hardly fair.

Totally agree. I would like to use your club/fans as an example of what could happen when people walk away. If all of the 7500 regulars who now attend your games actually attended games throughout the 90's, instead of now claiming they did, maybe you would not have been in the wilderness for so long.
I, like many others am fed up to the back teeth with the tripe that I have to witness on a regular basis. I find myself questioning my support and for the first time wondering if it is all worthwhile. Will I walk away? I very much doubt it, but if I did, only to return when the good days came back, I would have the balls to admit that I was once a deserter.

the big difference for me is that when I've seen bad Hull sides before (the end of the 90s for example) its been down to lack of money, and playing in a poor ground, whenever there was any success they'd sell off key players to stay afloat etc
now things are different because we have such big resources, yet are just being mismanaged
people are only getting so worked up about the club because they care, we were 80mins from being SL champions, now we are so far away we may as well be in National League 1.
