I like to have a smoke when ive had a beer and at no other time. Ive got a mate of mine that is a full time permanent smoker (for want of a better term)
Neither of us have a problem lasting 90-100 mins in the stadium without a cig. Dont see why others cant TBH.

The fact is a large percentage of paying fans do smoke and the club should provide an area for these fans to do so.

If Non-smokers have no sympathy for smokers then im afraid i've no sympathy the other way.

On the occassions ive seen it people have locked themselves in a cubicle. The smoke hasn't been blown near people but disappeared up the vents above.

That stadium is big enough and has enough open spaces to be able to provide this.

I kind of have a foot in both camps, but i strongly believe the club should not be forced to pay to make a smoking area for a minority of fans. Pubs have made better smoking areas because they would seriously lose revenue if they didnt. Will the stadium lose revenue if they start to police smoking more, i doubt it.

Of course you can differentiate between laws thats what the whole legal system is based on. Overcrowding in prisons would be a real problem if you was in charge

As a member of FC Voices, I will ask if it can go on the agenda for the next meeting for you for us to address the matter with John Cooper.

I have spoken to John Cooper about this when it came into being last year and he said if anyone was caught smoking in the stadium the stewards would ask them to put it out. If they were caught again then they would be thrown out.

As for the toilets he said stewards were going in at regular intervals to ensure no one was smoking in there, but its very difficult to do anything when people lock themselves into a cubicle and smoke.

It was becoming a joke in the ladies last year, everytime you opened the door a big plume of smoke came out.

Smoking in a public place is illegal. End of.

I have two dogs myself so understand your care and probably would have done the same, however, this shouldn't be used as an excuse to break the law.

I also disagree about having somewhere to go as they knew when the were taking smoking up as a habit that they couldn't have a cigarette in ideal conditions all of the time. If someone cannot manage 2 hours without one, then I would consider seeking medical help.

I really cannot believe the amount of fuss this has caused, simple and effective solution.
Caught smoking then eviction from the ground for that game.

seems a strange debate to me what happened to live and let live? smoking is banned in the stadium but many people still smoke and need a fag in the 2 hours or so you spend in the ground, you aint gonna get cancer from being in a cubicle next to someone who is havin a crafty one for 2 mins!! surely thats the best solution all round?
