The fact is we looked poor in defence and attack. Fact is we lost 36-6 (and were lucky not to concede more). Fact is we are a team without direction (and that isn't going to change without a decent SH). Fact is the players have had that much smoke blown up their backsides without actually proving anything. Fact is there are always fans that see through black and white glasses and aren't willing to accept reality.

Seymour was just awful in attack. One piece of good play doesn't alter that fact. I don't think Westerman was very remarkable either way, but I would say he was quite fortunate his offload for the try ended up in Arundel's hands and not in touch (or in Hall's hands). It was a speculative one, without doubt.

I went last night & have had time to reflect however my view has not changed.

I have taken into account injuries, the arrival of new players & those that chose to leave the club, that it was the first completitve match. Leed's performance & in my view @ times some poor decisions by the referee.

In my opinion it was a disappointing performance from Hull. Overall I saw nothing from Hull to be excited about. Nothing new & @ times dumb & poor play.

I will praise Hull when it is deserved & merited but last night in my view it was not, it was an unacceptable performance. I hope that last night's performance was 'a one off'. I do not expect Hull to win every match but I do want to see them play better than they did last night.

This game was always gonna be a tough ask and tbh i think we'll lose three of our first four but then hopefully this 'gel' may start working and we'll start picking points up

That could very well be the case, Seb, and I don't think the Bradford game is a given either. We need to show more in attack against Saints & Wire (even if we don't win) to get any kind of momentum into the season.

leeds, saints and wire are games we could easily lose if we were on top form so probably better that we have these whilst we're "gelling". Performance is more important than result in these games. We need tpo win the bradford one

I think we're good enough in defence, as long as we're not constantly put on the back foot by an inept attacking display.
Watched it back this morning, Houghton was terrible, we need to start with Heremaia.

Sounds harsh but nearly everything that was bad from hull in attack was down to Houghton. Hardly ran the ball. When he did it was like slow motion and his passing left everyone especially the halves on a hiding to nothing with Leeds's rush defence

I said Houghton's passing off the floor is painfully slow against that lot from across the river and a bloke turned around and glared at me as if I'd licked the back of his neck. Well. It got worse on Friday: His misdirected passes, poor options, lack of scoots (his strength) and him taking an age with his passing off the floor made for a poor showing. Worked his nuts off in defence.

Houghton had a poor game, but he is usually a consistent performer. Plenty of the team didn't have their best of games.

Houghton's passing off the floor is terrible, that's why he doesn't generally do it. This makes him stand up and take a couple of steps which ultimately means our halves don't get enough time and space.

This slow / poor service from acting half has been the undoing of several recent average/good half backs. Seymour and now Holdsworth are the latest to be suffering from this. They need time and space to be creative; provide them with early, precise ball and watch them begin to have an impact on games.

Dummy halves are looking to engage the markers more & more, don't thing the ball gets passed off the floor very often now.

Leeds won the game in the first half hour, 60:40 possession and dominating field position in that period took its toll in the last 15-20 minutes.
