| Sorry I don't think I explained myself very well. I'm not blaming our "failures" on not having injuries. I don't consider a season where we won the Challenge Cup a "failure". Sorry if it read that way as it wasn't my intention.
And I agree that you don't need injuries to rotate. But I do think that we didn't rotate as much as we could have because our strongest 17 was available most weeks. Again something I said was understandable. And I think that lack of rotation played it's part in the players fitness levels by the end of the season but also meant that younger players didn't get the game time that they would have potentially got in previous years.
By saying that I hope fortune favours us I was trying to say I hope we have an injury free season again but, as bonaire said, that we learn to rotate better.

Cant blame Radford for going with his strongest 17 most weeks but i think he will re think this for next season as another lesson learnt as will his interchanges.'"
That was a lesson learned in the Championship by Leigh, 'bonaire'.
In 2015, Rowley went with his 'strongest' 17, week in, week out, and we finished top of the League. Come, the Qualifiers we had about eight of those players requiring ops. Some played on, and some were replaced, in key positions, by squad members who had hardly played. I must stress that we were by no means the only team in the Qualifiers, that was struggling with injuries, but the other seven teams handled the situation much better. Rowley was totally focused on 'topping the table', rather than rotating his sizeable squad.
This season, Neil Jukes has rotated his squad - either through injuries or suspension, or by choice - and, come the Qualifiers we had a fresher team on the pitch.
Rotation, if you can, is the way to go, especially if the prize comes, not at the end of the regular fixtures, but in the 'play-offs'.
Well done on an excellent season though!

| I think the only reason our season fell off a cliff was wembley. Nothing to do with fatigue or overplaying players IMO. Our worst performer post wembley was sneyd which had nothing to do with fatigue but effectively ended our season

Deffo a Wembley mega hangover. I think you're a little unfair on Sneyd, he benefitted from the indomitable pack, post Wembley, that was our biggest headache, not dominating the opposition.

| Just on Naughton, he could be on his way out. Gone to Oz instead of staying for the player of the year awards. Even people like Pritchard and Manu have stayed and don't fly home until the end of the week

Doesnt surprise me if Naughton is on his way out.Expect several other fringe players to depart also.
Now the club awards are over the club will start to make announcements.
One or two shocks i think

| Naughton has gone to Oz to see his mother. Something he did last year. Nothing new in it.
Maybe he will leave but think people are reading too much into his trip to Oz.

| Best of luck Feka. Been solid for us whenever he's on the pitch and I am sure you will go down well at Doncaster.
Does anyone have a list of our known in's and out's for next season?

As I understand it Tony is still heavily involved with the Club and does a brilliant job as Club chaplain however he's also a full time Vicar with a big parish. Although he did the welfare job for a while its a massive task and something that the Club feel is very important going forward so Feke will now be the full time Welfare Officer whilst playing part time for Donny.

| Quote ="Doc Brown"In some ways our lack of an injury crisis this season proved to be a curse. I think that because his strongest 17 was available most weeks that Radders opted to play that 17. Which is understandable as it was very tight at the top of the table and fielding our strongest team whenever possible gave us our best chance of success.
Unfortunately that meant we had a few players out of energy by the end of the season as we perhaps didn't make as good a use of the squad and the u23's as we could of. Which also impacted some of our younger players as they didn't get the run outs they were maybe expecting to aid their development and gain them some experience.
Hopefully fortune will favour us again next year regarding injuries but we'll also have the chance (and take it) to rotate.'"
These type of posts just get funnier. So, our lack of injuries proved to be a curse. Utter codswallop on 2 fairly obvious points.
1. Our most successful season for decades coincides with our most injury free season since we got into Super League...
2. See above

You are entitled to your opinion Spegs as I am entitled to mine. I've already tried to explain said post better and won't be doing so again. And I certainly won't be making fun of anyone who has a different opinion to me and dismissing their opinions as "utter codswallop".

Agree. A lot of people are overthinking this. There was a fag paper to choose between the three teams who ended up with silverware at the end of the season. All three trophies could have easily been shared differently or in fact won by a single team. A missed tackle, dropped ball, refs call or in fact a made tackle were all factors...not Hulls lack of injuries.

To be honest I get what Doc Brown and others have said about the lack of injuries or the fact we kept our best 17 going all season as you look at Taylor in the last few games of the season he definitely looked jaded and wasn't making the metres he had been. The flip side of that is would we have achieved as much had Radford rotated the squad? Who knows. Then there is the what I assume would have been the goal set of a CC win and top 4 place. This would have been what was focused on an then as the season unfolded the goals will have shifted slightly.
I don't think we can underestimate the impact of actually winning the CC on the team afterwards and this I think was a factor also. I do think had we lost the CC Final we would have won the LLS &/or the GF as the drive and desire would have burnt even more fromthe sting of losing the CC.
Thats said, however we all look at it, 2016 eclipsed our wildest dreams and was in the cold light of day the best season we have had in the SL era. The disppointed that is around is natural as we were so close to more. The big ask now is to back this season up in 2017 and go one better.

| Ref the resting/rotation, there was only taylor in the forwards who didn't miss games through being injured or dropped/rested. The fall off at the season's end was 90% down to winning at wembley
