| So Nick Thompson is trying to have everyone believe that he asked the SMC if , the Allam owned HC could train on the KC pitch and the Allam owned SMC said no. So he had to ask for extra funds or report that to his bosses , the Allams , so that HC could travel to Portugal at short notice instead which was a real pain. I bet the Allams were really unhappy with the decision of the Allam owned SMC because of the extra cost and inconvenience that were caused for the Allam's HC.
What conflict of interest????????????

| Why did the interviewer not just ask him the blunt question, or point out the blunt point? He asked how much the charge for displaying memorabilia was (which was predictably and understandably not answered), but why didn't they challenge the stupid response that 'the SMC has to make money somehow'? 1. You've just said it's a nominal amount, so they won't make much, and 2. What they make from Hull City is a cost to the same people as are charging it, so they've made nothing. It's literally like taking money out of one pocket and putting it in another in the same pair of jeans. The only people they'll be making money from is Adam Pearson and everyone knows it, so why not just stop dancing around it and tell it like it is?

| As Mrs B pointed out on the "petty" thread:
Quote ="Mrs Barista"Here's a strange and coincidental thing.
From 2001 to 2010, the SMC posted a cumulative profit of £42k. I think a small dividend is payable from the SMC to the council on this, but am not sure.
In the last 2 years, the SMC has recorded losses of £326k and £409K. Wow.'"
The fact is the SMC managed to tick along quite nicely for ten years. returning a modest, cumulative profit of £42k. Not a fortune but the right side of the balance sheet and enough to give the council a small return on their investment.
Now compare that with losses of £326k and £409k ineach of the last two years. That should be sufficient to trigger a forensic audit of the SMC's books, especially given that one of Allam's arguments for being gifted the KC was that the SMC was making losses. The SMC only started posting substantial losses once it was under Allam's control. Losses of that magnitude are hardly going to be mitigated by charging Hull FC £20k per year for picture space.
The SMC is an asset that is owned by the council tax payers of Hull, the City Council are custodians of that asset and as such, I believe they have a legal duty to ensure that the KC is being properly managed. If losses continue at the rate of the last two years, then there must be serious doubts over the ability of the SMC to adequately maintain the KC stadium.

| Do the losses in the recent years relate to lost sponsorship of the Arena, and various units around the ground being too expensive for rental - i.e. the previous council unit?

Remember, the council have moved out, the hockey teams have (apparently) gone, likewise the basketball, the arena has no sponsor, BUT the SMC had £1.2m cash in the bank, didn't pay any dividends (so didn't pay the Council a penny) and probably avoided a shed load of tax......

Is there anyway that the council can regain control of the Stadium/ SMC aside from buying out the Allam's? If not, what good would any audit do?

If there is evidence of financial mismanagement or any underhand dealings, I would imagine the council would have the option to rip up any agreement.

It's all very pathetic this whole situation, as I've said on the City board.
Who'd have thought when the council built us both a stadium that we'd have to rent space for a photo on the bloody wall!
Also, who is on the board of the SMC, does anyone know? I've had a quick look but can't find much at all.

Assem Allam
Ehab Allam
McGuire (City's former CEO) resigned when he left City. Perhaps John North will be appointed for independence. What with him, I think, being company secretary of Hull KR who owe £1m to, er, the Allams.

I thought you'd know! And I thought that would be who was involved.
The SMC should have been either a joint effort from Hull City, Hull FC and the council, or should have been independent in the first place, then arguments like this at least would have some balance to them.

| CCS's earlier post refers to the Community Stadium fulfilling it's responsibilities to the community, does this mean that there is some sort of service level agreement or even list of these responsibilities?

| I've always felt that rugby is treat as the second class citizen in all of this. The Allams need to start seeing the stadium as what it is "a community stadium" to be enjoyed by all of whatever persuasion be it black, amber, black and white or even red and white !! ... As for removing memorabilia of Johnny Whiteley they obviously don't realise what offence this causes to people ... or maybe they do ??
On a lighter note take a look at this ... some smashing t shirts ... the wife just got me one for my holiday ... come on you hullaah

It would cost just £10 to get hold of the last tens years SMC annual accounts up to 2012.
Allamhouse Limited might be interesting as well.
I really would like to understand what this statement means....
Quote The overall contribution received from Hull FC in the 2011-2012 financial year towards rugby related costs resulted in a net loss of £280,000 to SMC.'"
I'm more than willing to get copies of the accounts, but they would be more useful to someone who actually understands them.
Quote ="Part of thr HDM story today"In a lengthy statement released to the Mail, the SMC accused the council of failing to provide copies of warranties covering terms of the original lease agreement after the Allam family acquired the company in late 2010 as part of their takeover of Hull City.'"
As AP was working for Hull City before and after the Allam's took over City+SMC, surely he (Allam) would have seen all the relevant "warranties"??

Isn't the SMC statement basically implying that the previous owners of the SMC did nothing regarding the upkeep of the stadium and because of this 500k has had to be spent on the stadium to keep it's safety certificate?

That does appear to be the implication and is, to my mind, further evidence of the need for a forensic audit

| Agree with you Coddy .
when saying made 42,00 well thats only the 5% of total £840,000 and at that means made a profit the last 2 years to get this up to 1.2 million .
Or is that just me been gullible?
