Maybe if you read the article fully, you wouldn't deliver a sarcastic reply.
In the article I posted, it states a reason maybe, he was not appointed for recent opportunities.
Personally, I don't see what relevance.that he hasn't had a gig. His CV as a proven Head Coach speaks for itself.

| Gentle and his coaching team certainly improved our attack and defence (especially the right edge) last season.
We throw the ball about more, our offloading game was excellent and we competing in more of the games.
This season we seem to be not offloading as much, backing up is terrible and we dont seem to break the libe very often, we are missing Manu massively, but this isn't the reason the only reason that our attack has been so poor this season.
I honestly don't know why our attack has been so poor compared with last season, we have a better halfback pairing (when they play together), much better FB. I still think our best 17 is better than last years 17, so not sure why we look much worst in attack than last year, injuries, weather, coaching?

We also miss Moa who was good at passing out of the tackle/breaking the line. Backing up does need to improve a lot although McDonnell missing takes away a good support player now as well. Gentle did make improvements last year which some have forgotten about but we need to all remember again including the players.

This. 10000000x this. Still, I guarantee that win or lose on Friday, a good portion of our fans will leave considerably early.

I wasn't being sarcastic.
The relevance is that for whatever reason he's not been an RL coach for a while and that includes a period when clubs from the top to the bottom of SL were looking for a coach. So plenty of opportunity but no action. Now, that could be a lack of desire as he hints at or it could be that perhaps he isn't as good as some people think.
Coaches with a winning track record in SL include Milward and McRae. Past glories are not necessarily an indicator of present ability.

Noble inherited a champion team from Matt Elliot at Bradford. They were on a crest of a wave at the time. They were never going to bomb instantly. He moved to Wigan and had to cheat the salary cap to avoid relegation. He did nothing of note at crusaders.
I thnk there is a little too much hype about Noble due to his media exposure.

He still coached Bradford to SL and WCC success, his bosses cheated the salary cap then the next year he got Wigan into the play offs then went to Crusaders who didnt have a team a week before the season started and got them in the play offs. Compare that to Gentles coaching career. Hmmmmm

| From what i can read into PG has re-structured the whole playing side starting from youth upwards. Imports and becoming harder to come by and developing from within is the way forwards. Agar didn't even let the youth train with the first team and very rarely promoted players into the first team. Unfortunately at the moment younger replacements are also injured (Shaul at FB and Nicklas in halves).
The youth teams use the same drills and calls during games, something that didn't happen under Agar, maybe it wasn't his fault and was being handcuffed by Hetherington?
Results have not been good in first team so far but i would rather have Adam Pearson and Peter Gentle running the club than Hetherington and Agar.

Whoever cheated the salary cap at Wigan it provided an unfair boost to the coach, not the sort of achievement you can ignore. You don't get many Wigan fans mourning Noble's departure either - even when they were struggling they had better personnel than many teams. All Noble did was get them playing to a better than dire level.
He is also the man who signed Iestyn Harris - surely one of the worst ever signings of the SL era.
So far Gentle has had one season, a play off place and a play off win. Not brilliant but it stacks up well to Noble's recent achievements.
By your championing of Noble you persist in showing your ignorance.

No my championing of Noble is because after years of promoting assistants beyond their ability a coach with a proven track record was needed at our club but instead we went for the unknown quantity again and we are now still stagnating as we have done for years. As another poster has said Gentle is the Ausiie Paul Cullen, talks a great game but cant deliver

I'm still waiting for someone to agree with you. Noble has had his day and the fact that no club have shown any interest in him speaks volumes to me.

Put another manager in place who has half a clue about football and I am sure when Ferguson retires Man Utd will maintain their position with the resources they have.
Noble took Bradford to the GF and won it, with the best team around at the time. A team which he had not put together. Some of his signings were questionable to say the least.
At Wigan in 2006 he has 225k of extra cap to play with, a distinct advantage. In 2007 he got to wigan to 6th (same as gentle last season) where one player (Trent Barrett) dragged them passed an injury ravaged Hull.
That he has been out of work for so long speaks volumes IMO.

Posturing in the media about contracted players is one thing, actually signing anyone and remaining within the cap is quite another. We'll see how the "Salford Spring" goes.

Gentle has had less than 1 and a third seasons. In that one season he got to the second stages of the play off.
Tell me, with the resources available to him, what were you expecting at this stage?

I don't think Sebasteeno has been the only one querying PG's progress. I think many have had high expectations when the word all along has been that it will take more than one season to get things in place. We made progress last year and I think, despite our poor start, that we will improve further before this season is over.

Yeah - you'd never get a top side promoting an unproven assistant.

Haven't we had this conversation before. Names like Anderson, Wayne, Cummins seem to strike a chord with me. But perhaps I'm just inventing these assistant coaches who've been appointed elsewhere. It surely wouldn't happen at Hull.

Or Shaun Wane, Francis Cummins, Brian Noble, etc. Brian McDermott's only previous gig was his disastrous time at London.
The fact is that every head coach was promoted from assistant at some point, and many of them made a success of it. Even top sides will take a chance if the candidate impresses them. Promoting an assistant isn't an automatic recipe for disaster as some seem to be claiming.

Massive irony in the fact that you're simultaneously deriding promoting assistant coaches and lauding Noble's achievements at Bradford.
