Agree with Rock God,when we bought Westerman,I said he was a waste of money,I still stand by that assertion,he has done nothing in the preceding years to change my mind.

While we are at it,last night Seymour was abysmal,he not only can't kick,pass or take on the line his one on one defense is appalling,we can't carry him the entire season,put Horne back to Seven,ship Seymour out.

Start with Heremaia and use Houghton to run at tiring defenses,he's seem to have lost this art,this is what made him,last night I don't think he ran from acting half once,his distribution or intelligence isn't good enough to be a controlling nine.

If they're dropping off tackles in the last quarter after one game god help them later in the season. No excuses they were poor in every aspect, defence being one of them.

whenever I see a performance like that, I think of the film dodgeball, with the whole "you have to get angry" bit. We really need to get the players up for it and ready to give them a good go. Chris Green was the only player who looked like he was up for doing whatever it takes to win and while it's still early days I just feel we're not only lacking a proper playmaker(I understand Holdsworth needs more time to settle obviously) but we're also lacking a proper ruthless player, with energy and just that 'X factor'. Manu and Moa will be sorely missed, as well as Mcgoldrick, what he lacked in skill he made up for in energy and attacking enthusiasm.

I still believe in Peter Gentle, but I'm not too sure about our squad.

crookes was certainly not one of the stand out performers at all were u watching the radio???
the whole team had a shocker barring green,Heremai who looked class and Johnson he did a job too other than that no stand outs for me both half backs lacked creation and did not click once not many other options for gentle though no one good enough to play alongside holdsworth other than Seymour in the squad and hes average at best.

Watch it closer and remember who we are playing and how much defending and were we are defending.

Guessing your amongst them. Crookes never stopped all night, got a real rough ride and never once could be blamed outright for any Leeds tries and nearly pulled off a wonder tackle

You having a pop at me there......i said Crookes had a good game and ran ball out well and coverd well running back in defence but trys still came down that channel....as for Whiting...he put in a good defensive stint as well and was in Baileys face but did i say standing up to him...no...Whiting wasnt his usual self but he wasnt dog turd...he was a damn sight better than Galea and Westerman.

don't worry i was there behind the sticks freezing my off too i must of not seen the same Crookes as you he made some good cover tackles and has pace but i do like lineham more on what ive seen of them both over last year and this year so far but in terms of this game he did more then some of the players i agree and its only the 1st game so we shall see what happens maybe ill eat my words and he will be awsome i hope he does.

Whiting and Galea were as useless as each other last night.

Our only two bits of good attacking play were created by Seymour and Westerman, yet they are still getting stick. Unbelievable.

Galea i can understand but very unusual for Whiting to be off the mark....agree about Seymour but im still unconvinced about westerman...he needs to be in 2nd row for me.

The fact is we looked poor in defence and attack. Fact is we lost 36-6 (and were lucky not to concede more). Fact is we are a team without direction (and that isn't going to change without a decent SH). Fact is the players have had that much smoke blown up their backsides without actually proving anything. Fact is there are always fans that see through black and white glasses and aren't willing to accept reality.

But you hang in there, Im sure this season will be a special one for you, just lack the last and the one before that and the one before that .........

This forum is called RL Fans, not RL Coaches. People will give their opinions on players' performances, team selections, bench rotations and all the other guff because that's precisely what these boards are for.

The whole scoffing at 'armchair coaches' bit just looks faintly ridiculous.

Seymour was just awful in attack. One piece of good play doesn't alter that fact. I don't think Westerman was very remarkable either way, but I would say he was quite fortunate his offload for the try ended up in Arundel's hands and not in touch (or in Hall's hands). It was a speculative one, without doubt.

I went last night & have had time to reflect however my view has not changed.

I have taken into account injuries, the arrival of new players & those that chose to leave the club, that it was the first completitve match. Leed's performance & in my view @ times some poor decisions by the referee.

In my opinion it was a disappointing performance from Hull. Overall I saw nothing from Hull to be excited about. Nothing new & @ times dumb & poor play.

I will praise Hull when it is deserved & merited but last night in my view it was not, it was an unacceptable performance. I hope that last night's performance was 'a one off'. I do not expect Hull to win every match but I do want to see them play better than they did last night.
