He'll do well at union not least because the skill levels are so low that anyone with serious talent will be lauded. Hopefully he wont get bored during the endless stoppages and set pieces that characterise that rich and expertly marketed sport.

It would be quite simple I imagine. Each club would be allowed to nominate any player as a marquee player, regardless of their background or experience. That players salary would not count on the cap.

Just been voted into the nrl team of the season, along with James Graham. Burgess also came third in the overall vote for the dally m award

The RU club where I coach (sorry no real options here) are discussing Burgess at length. Some curious to know who and what he is. Some eager to see him, some simply dismissing him. His recent stats vs SBW were certainly of interest to some and made a few drool.

Can't understand the constant knocking of rugby union. Totally different game and different skills required. Am sure there are union players who would rip it up in league IMO

I'm also absolutely sure there will be many in the Southern Hemisphere who could transfer their skills. Mainly though backs. If Sam does well I'm certain it will be in the anticipated inside centre role. The role of the forwards is massively different between the two codes. I wouldn't say its impossible but it is very difficult to succeed in both in the pack. Certainly some of the more heavy props in Union would never succeed in league.

not gonna name aussies etc just british, M Tuilagi, farrell, Nowell, Haskell, billy vunipola,Ben Morgan, the list goes on, all good rugby players, theres also a lot who wouldnt make it, somebody like Tuilagi would do for me as hulls new centre, he would be a massive hit in league,also think burgess will do well in union,
