I still fail to see the reasoning behind this. Humberside were correct on the Cooke story and in fact got a scoop, surely there bosses would have been pleased they broke this story. I can understand hull not liking the story but it was in all essence true. What should humberside have done, ignore the lead.

Dont think it was necessarily the story, just the way it was reported, almost as if they were Rovers orientated as opposed to supposedly being impartial.
They were practically laughing at Hull fans and robbing our noses in it.

| Personally I'm pleased the club have banned them, not too bothered about the Reardon stuff more bothered about them questioning Dick Tingle's integrity.
Dick Tingle has got more integrity then the lot of them put together..

Were they, or was it more a fact that initially the story sounded completely implausible, then when proved wrong the station seemed a bit smug, but as the story was bad news for Hull it could only ever sound rovers biased.
In a way it was no different to how the HDM have reported the cokayne story, now I know a lot of our fans think we should ban the HDM but for that would be a PR disaster.
Personally I think if Hull win 2 of the next 3 difficult matches the whole thing will blow over as the feel around the club will be better.

The 2 main gripes Hull have had with RH is the Cooke story and the Reardon story, both of which although not in Hulls favour (and in fairness reported a bit too vehemently) have been true and reortable. In fact I'd go as far as to say the station would be doing a disservice to the public if they hadn't reported the incidents..'"
A good post, but what about their treatment of the other Cooke story last year? Rumours were running riot across the city for days before Cooke's no-show at the derby, yet Humberside chose not to mention these rumours. Strange how they had such excellent sources and could break the story about Cooke going to Rovers just before an important FC match, yet either these same sources had evaporated (unlikely given the story was all over every messageboard and forum) or Humberside chose not to say anything that might be detrimental to Rovers just before a derby. Double standards.

In all fairness to HKR and PC he has never been proescuted for being a woman beater and at the time of signing had not had a conviction for drink driving, therfore RH could not report it. The Reardon thing was never soley about his pending sentencing, but to do with the timing and the percieved link with the clubs launch of its initiative on domestic abuse. I wont go into the actual content as I don't know enough about the initiative to say whether trying to sign reardon was a faux pas, but it did allow the brick throwers an opportunity to fill there boots.
My main point was that if the perception of FC fans was that your doing well this year then I don;t believe RH would be banned. As it is the general perception is that your struggling and as such the PR machine has set itself in motion to divert some attention from the heirarchy of FC and channel the anger towards the bbc.
Personally I think your season although not sparkling is going pretty well considering. As most of your fans would admit you haven't been in anything like top gear this year and the play has been hit and miss, yet you still find yourselves in a position that sees you having more wins than losses, in the play off slots and only 3 points off 2nd place. Granted the next 3 matches are v.tough and 1 win from them would be a reasonable result, but I feel FC will hit form at some point this year and that could be good enough to get you a top 4 finish (no one else is setting the world alight, well except us.. )
In summary the RH phone in is never a place for getting actual facts, more a place to mock the afflicted of both sides who 'never went to the game but the ref was crap' who phone in and embarrass our game. If I were the club I'd rise above it, let RH, KCFM etc get on with producing semi laughable programs and turn the negative into a positve and understand its better to be talked about then ignored.

I'm not so sure about that TBH. While there may very well be an element of deflection involved, I think the root cause is the extremely poor relationship between the club and RH plus a concern that the articles being run might have a detrimental effect on commercial operations such as sponsorship and advertising.

I think the disgraceful comment about Dick Tingle by Burns was the straw that broke the camel's back. It even embarrassed Lloyd. There comes a point when you have to defend your staff and make a stand and that was it, and quite rightly so.

No.
What Chris Irvine doesn't understand is that this is not merely about one or two unpalatable stories that Hull FC has objected to. If it was just this then the banning probably does appear petty and un-self-serving to an outsider. He does not listen to the blatant negativity spewing from Burns and his Sportstalk programme night after night. It's not just about what is said, it's the general tone that is adopted to refer to all things Hull FC, the sing, the nudging encouragement to callers jumping on the anti-Hull bandwaggon, the amount of texts chosen to be read out poking fun at or bad-mouthing the club.
The fact is that the Sports Editor of ONE of our local radio stations does not like Hull FC, and takes every opportunity to diffuse his hatred throughout the city. This is dangerous and ultimately damaging and cannot be tolerated by our club.
Burns, sadly, is the Head of Sport at Humberside and this puts him in a powerful position. Until he goes or has a marked change of attitude (unlikely, I know) Hull are right in my opinion to castrate him with regard to fresh news.
Contrary to Irvine's belief, Hull have not cut-off the local media and have not isolated themselves in a "little Bubble" as he says. As for his "diet of acceptable sausages" or whatever he's on about - rubbish. Irvine mysteriously has chosen not to be aware of our alternative local radio stations, our local press and the rest of the BBC, Sky etc. etc. (with all of whom Hull remain friendly) in order to make a cheap point and spice up what is pretty much a non-story teetering on the wrong end of the stick.
He's right on one thing, though. "Rule has ruled" and about time too for me.

| The ambulance chaser realised some time ago that the way to get burns onside is though his more than ample stomach (Unsurprising that a fat bloke responds well to food). Our chief exec should take a leaf out of his book, take burns out for a few beers and a curry and get him singing our praises. Another very easy fix for the club

You must listen to a different station to me. I listen to sportstalk every night and find myself looking for things that are said anti-Hull. I'm sorry but I just don't buy any of it coming from either Burnsy or GL biased against Hull FC.
As far as i'm concerned it did start with the Cookiegate affair. I don't for one minute hold anything against GL for breaking the story. He's a journalist and thats just what they do its as simple as that. Since then our board have alienated themselves from everybody time and time again with lack of communication with us fans, petty boardroom squables with the Hull KR board and again with Radio Humberside.
What amuses me more than most other things is that many on this board will criticise our club for a certain thing and then as soon as GL or Burnsy mention the very same thing threads are started slamming Radio Humberside again.
We have an impartial station and a station designed to be Hulls propaganda machine. If Hull FC don't want negative publicity then they should stop creating it.
