I'm sure he can wear contact lenses if they are that bad. Even a bit of elastic around his glasses would do the trick

| In his interview on hullfc.com about teaming up with Lauiki:
Fitzgibbon has enjoyed a lot of success with both the Roosters and Australia and he went on to say: āI am still ambitious and want to be part of a successful organisation. Hull have come across as a club which ambitions and that excites me.
Maybe Kath isn't doing that much of a bad job then

firstly, even if this is the case this is a GOOD THING! players shouldnt be criticised for being third man, if you can get there in time, because the tackles taking that long to complete, you should. a third man completing a tackle only increases the time the defence has to get back, and improves the other two defenders chance of winning the floor wreslte and defending from square marker how they want to.
if every player in a team always came in at third man, that would make for one mean defence.
secondly, i dont think this is the only reason his count is high.fitz is notorious as a grafter.him and hindmarsh did the hardwork for australia, taking the cr@ppy drives and working their balls off in defence. if anything fitz was criticised in aus for doing too much at times.
personally i thought he was a joy to watch in defence, particularly when he used to shoot up on props around the ruck when defending a little wider out.

| There's an interview with Fitzgibbon in today's League Express.
From reading what he says, the guy's attitude and is first class.
Think he will turn out to be an outstanding signing.

That's OK we might start getting enough players in the tackle then.

| I couldnt be bothered to trawl though the whole thread but I have seen him compared to Menzies becuase of his age but they are very different players, we could do with someone like Menzies much more then Fitz in my opinion, I get the feeling the club have gone for the easy option and the big name to attempt to please the fans rather then what would have the most benifit to us on the field, if they wanted to show real ambition they should have gone for Orford, this signing just makes us feel underwhelmed yet again and we will need to do a lot more recruiting if we are to improve.
That said I dont doubt his quality and that he will do a job for us, you dont get the reputation and rspect that he has for no reason and his age isnt that much of a concern becuase he is still petty consistant if not spectacular, Id agree with whats generally been said about his impact being similar to Kearneys and his goalkicking is a bonus, with the right recruitment in other areas he could be a very good signing although i get the impression he will be our major signing for 2010.

The fact that Lauaki is mentioned means the piece is balls. Rubbish.

For those raving on about Kearney.
Lets be honest. He was slow out on the pitch, slow walking in the ball, slow to get back 10. He looked fooked after 30 mins, just like Manu does (and gets jeers for)
Without doubt he was a great influence off the pitch. His headhunting at Bradford was a sad end to his playing days, why such a profesional should do that?
So Kearney, yes, a good leader, alongside Swain was very good. But in a playing capacity was 3 years past it

I like him. The comments about the club might be the usual formulaic stuff, but he's younger than Menzies, Senior, Long, Morley, Demetriou, Fozzard, same age as Gidley, we need someone with a bit of presence and gravitas. I'd say with his experience he's pretty well set in this respect. Certainly not writing him off before he even arrives.

Have you just put Demetriou in the same bracket as Morley, Menzies, Long and Gidley?????
The last 4 ARE world beaters, Demetriou however, played for Lancashire Lynx and is decent in a average Wakey team.
