Brilliantly encapsulates the feelings of the majority of City fans, the vast majority of other teams' fans, the FA, astounded onlookers and the national sporting media. Everyone, in fact, other than our own local media, the sycophants Humberside, shamefully led by Carpet Burns, and the Wail, with it's cowering Allam-champion Fewings.
Sorry, Mild Rover, I cannot agree with your sentiments on this. Mike Calvin of BT Sports should not have to be the spokesperson for every right-minded person not frightened out of their own opinion by Allam's threats. The leading spokespeople protecting our city's soccer heritage should be our local journalists. They have a duty to represent the people who read and listen to their respective media outlets. They should have no obligation to a bigoted bully who mistakes his own financial feathering for philanthropy, thereby believing it gives him carte blanche to destroy culture and acquire the city's legacy. When this is met with opposition he believes he has the right to force the issue anyway, by threats, smoke and mirrors, undemocratic ballots, sheer pig-headedness and embarrassing one-sided spats with the City council.
No, MR, what will happen afterwards should be the least of our local media representatives' considerations. They should he leading the way now, reflecting the mood and sentiments of the whole of the rest of us, both locally and nationally. Their time is now. Instead they cower and hold on to shirt tails, terrified of a camel's spit in the eye.
It is a sad day when the freedom of the press, local or otherwise, is compromised by the spectre of thinly disguised intimidation. If this is the case, and our local 'independent' journalists are compromised into protecting the whims of one manipulative individual rather than the interests of the rightuous majority by not reporting FAIRLY AND ACCURATELY and without being strong-armed, then we all may as well pack up and go home. Allam doesn't pay their wages, the Mail and the BBC do - there's no need to be afraid of not being able to put food on the table ffs. Lets not over-dramatize.
Today Mark Calvin has done Burns and co's job for them. They should hang their heads in shame - they're not fit for purpose as independent journalists. My opinion, of course.

Bear in mind Europa League games are on a Thursday night and the following Premiership fixtures on a Sunday afternoon.
Could be convenient that our last few home games are on a Friday night.

Due to UEFA financial fair play rules, the club needs £25mill pumping into to balance the books enough to allow entry into Europe.
To put it in perspective, Man City need about £300mill. But the stadium sponsor deal will be up again soon, that pulls them £500mill from Ethiad

Not true, certainly not for the 2014/15 season anyway.
The only threat to City's European ambitions would be Arsenal failing to get a top 4 finish yet still winning the FA Cup.

Everton beating Arsenal last week probably scuppered City's European ambitions imo. Although it's feasible that City could win the final. Arsenal have been awful for weeks now.

Wouldn't City still qualify if Arsenal finish 5th and won the FA Cup? Top 4 get into the Champions League, 5th gets Europa League along with League Cup and FA Cup winners. If Arsenal qualify via their league finish isn't it the cup runners up that get that competitions Euro entry?

As I understand it to get into Europe, City must either win the FA Cup or if they lose, hope Arsenal finish 4th.
If Arsenal win the Cup but finish 5th or lower, the last Europa League place goes to the team finishing 8th in the Premier League.

Quote He will have until 31 Dec 2014 to convert the debt into equity. If he does not do this, it is unclear what punishment UEFA will impose – they may withhold some of Hull’s prize money or alternatively impose a punishment for the 2015/16 season. However as Hull are by no means certain to qualify for UEFA competition in 2015/16, it seems more likely that some of the prize money may be withheld if the owner did not inject the equity.'"

European Qualification:
Premier League Pos 1-3: Automatic Qualification for Champions League group stage.
Premier League Pos 4: Entry into Champions League at final qualifying round.
Premier League Pos 5: Automatic Entry into Europa League.
League Cup Winners: Automatic Entry into Europa League. The League Cup Winners this season were Man City who will almost certainly qualify for the Champions League, so therefore this European spot is transferred to the team finishing 6th in the Premier League (not to Sunderland who lost the final).
F.A.Cup Winners: Automatic Entry into the Europa League. if the winners have already qualified for any European spot via any of the above entry levels, then their place goes to the F.A.Cup runners-up. If both finalists have already secured a spot then the final place goes to the team finishing in 7th place in the Premier League.
As others have already stated, the financial fair play rules will not affect qualification for entry into the European competitions for the season 2014/15.
What all of this means from City's point of view is that, providing Arsenal finish anywhere inside the top 6 of this season's Premier League (highly likely, even with their stuttering league form of late), Tigers will be playing Thursday Nights on Channel 5 next season, irrespective of whether they are F.A.Cup winners or runners-up.

| Not quite right. The fa cup place enters a round later so if nal came 5th and won the cup they would take the cup space and the other spot would revert to 7th in the league. City have everton last game of the season so cant influence this in a way.

| Not sure a Europa league place would be for the best anyway, unless you get to the quarter finals you face playing Eastern Europe teams who are so obscure you have to google them, meanwhile the long away trips and extra mid-week game stretches the squad. Swansea this season and Newcastle the other year have struggled because of it.

Where did you get this from?
Most City fans seem to think that if Arsenal win the cup and finish 5th then they take the European cup spot allocated to the FA cup because it has a higher seeding and the place reserved for finishing 5th goes to the next highest finisher in the league.

Found this on the Premier League website
Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League.

I honestly have no idea.
Quote There are three places in the UEFA Europa League available: the FA Cup winners will enter at the Group Stage; the fifth place team in the Barclays Premier League will enter at the Play-Off stage; and the Football League Cup winners will enter at the Q3 stage.'"
This makes sense. Winners of the cups and 5th place qualify. Simple.
Quote In the event the FA Cup winners are qualified for the UEFA Champions League the FA Cup runners-up will qualify, but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative. The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.'"
This also makes sense. If Arsenal finish 4th and win the cup then Hull City are in Europe.
Quote English winners of the UEFA Europa League will enter at the Group Stage, gaining an extra domestic place only if they fail to qualify through other means for the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League. If the holders of the UEFA Europa League have already qualified for Europe, no extra domestic place will be gained.'"
Again, this makes sense. But it's not applicable to City.
Quote Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League.'"
Now this is where I am confused. This line mentions FA cup winners, runners-up, and League Cup winners. Why mention the runners-up if they're not eligible for qualification? That really does read to me that the runners up take the Europa League spot if the winners have already qualified for either the Champions League or Europa League and that it would only pass onto the highest placed team if the runners-up had already qualified for Europe along with the winners. Does my reasoning make sense?
