I can see why Manu plays the full 80 now.
Our game plan consists solely of giving him the ball & hoping he breaks the line.

Unimaginative & boring. That's our team, & it's doing my head in having to watch it.

We play for 20 minutes today, & nearly win undeservedly. Whenever we do get a new coach, let's hope for Christs sake we have a new broom & new ideas. People will not continue to pay top dollar to watch our dour, bland game plan.

Absolutely spot on. We was talking about this in the pub after the game. A Top class coach makes even the mediocre play batter. Remember Brian Smith anyone??

Certainly do Airlie, he did a good job with a poor bunch, i believe we have a decent bunch of players but the direction is lacking.

i'm not sure how that would have changed things today to be honest, Agar had his team fired up, and to be fair to him he had 2 players off injured in the first half limiting the interchanges.

don't get me wrong i still have my doubts about him, but our players simple arent good enough, and I put that blame soley at Peter Sharps door.

all 17 gave 100% today, but several simply lack the ability for being in a top side. Agar doesn't have the chance to change this until the end of the season (or he could make changes if Crocker and Lakuaki dont come, and Byrne is paid off)

that isn't Agar's fault though!

we needed a new one after Cooke left, Sharp did well to bring in Head in the shirt term, but then we needed to make a big signing. Instead we got Berrigan, who is a fantastic player, but we needed a half back more than a hooker.

they then laughably signed Dykes, who clearly didn't have to undertake any medical, and had the opportunity to sort the problem again...but they went and bought a forward (Crocker)

Does Agar have no say in the players that come to the team then? Any decent coach would make it top priority.

he hasn't had the chance yet, as everyone was signed up by the time he was made first team coach, and by the time Dykes was paid off it was Thorman or nobody.

So he never had the opportunity in the off season then??????

There is always somebody available, But we went and signed, MOA, lauikia (SP) who are really going to help us with good wide play.

Not having a dig at Moa or Lauikai but did we really need them more than a playmaker??

Wasnt Webster still on our books when we signed Thorman. Just think our squad is top heavy with forwards who arnt good enough.

Webster wasnt good enough hence why he is plying his trade in the national leagues.

Webster although not good enough would at least have given us other options, with what we have we really do not have any options.

which quality playmakers were available in october though? everyone has their halfbacks tied to deals because they are such a vital part of any team.

there's plenty of things people can criticize Agar for, but he can't just magic a topclass halfback out of thin air

At least 75% of our tackle 4 plays were simply give the ball to Manu today. No wonder by the end of the game he was out on his feet. The fact Rovers had Galea and Newton marking him showed how much they feared him ball in hand and combined with the amount of 'assasin sets' aimed at Manu to drain his energy further.

I agree. We are far to void of creativity. A good scrum half would probably see us get the best out of Horne & Berrigan too. Backs are very thin on the ground. Another average season in prospect I think!

I'm sure some will think I'm over reacting, but today was nothing short of disgraceful in my eyes. To lose by only four points after the way we played goes to show how the game was there for the taking if only we'd applied ourselves for the full 80 instead of just the last 20.

There are too many players stealing a living out of the pockets of honest fans and most of them looked totally disinterested for the majority of the game. I'm fed up of paying good money to see forwards taking the ball standing still, no effort in the defensive line, and attacking play that wouldn't look out of place in a youth game.

With very, very few exceptions the players need to improve considerably or ship out.
