| Quote ="knockersbumpMKII"We lost out on CC money because of the p!ss poor effort from the players and the p!ss poor coaching. We lost more money due to our position in the league, again down to the players and the coach.
But actually how much money has AP actually 'lost'? Yes he's made investments but you think he isn't taking any money back from our income, or do fans think every outgoing cost is a direct hit on his wallet/bank balance, it clearly isn't.
Of course he isn't going to be making huge sums if anything at all but all this talk of running out of cash and it costing him wads of money is just nonsense.
It shouldn't be about 'cutting corners', it should be about looking at efficiency, and if some don't like that well that's tough. Shape up or ship out as they say. AP should be taking direct responsibility on this front or get someone in whom he knows can do this job.
I still think we lack someone like James Rule to maximize our sales and marketing potentials
Unless we make a decent start I think sub 10k attendances will be the norm for next season'"
I agree with that, even though his constant spin became grating in the end, Rule was pretty much everywhere in the local media. Pearson is a very good public speaker, but quite rightly as Chairman he picks and chooses his moments to give interviews. I suppose he planned for Mcrae to cover that role, but we know how that worked out!
to give the current marketing staff some slack though, the economic conditions are far different from the early days of the KC when local businesses hiring out boxes for corporate jollys was seen as the norm, and the vast majority of fans have less disposable income to spend in the club shop.

Someone I know was a guest of the club at the Salford cup game and Pearson said that defeat mean't he would have to put another £50k into the club.
I very much doubt he is taking any money from the club because its making a loss. He is having to put money in. His income comes from his other business interests. He doesn't have a bottomless pit of cash, he's no Koukash. He bought the club with the intention of taking an income from it and selling it for a profit. He is a long way from doing either. I don't believe he'll walk because he will lose his investment but sooner or later he will run out of money to put in and will expect the club to be self-financing; reduced income means reduced spending.

| Just because the club is making an overall loss doesn't mean Pearson isn't taking money from the total generated income. To think otherwise is naive in extremis. It's the same with other 'investments', they are just that. Accquiring and improving doesn't then mean that accquisition is becomes worthless but it is obvious AP isn't the great businessman some are giving him credit for. He has made endless mistakes, both with personnel and decisions that effect the daily and long term running of the club. His mouth and ultimately his pride/stupidity have come back to bite him many times over and continue to do so even with the likes of paying off of Miller.
There's no doubt that the lost income as a result of being knocked out will have a financial effect somewhere along the line but is all of that directly out of AP's pocket..I hardly think so. Clearly if AP made that statement he had already projected a win and what that would mean financially for the year. (That said we made a packet last year!) But the loss was actually down to Pearson himself in reality. He was the one whom put in charge a man clearly not up to the job, he ultimately is the one that pulls the strings and ok's the terrible decisions made by the coach/backstabber. So basically it is a reap what you sow scenario. He's cutting off his nose to spite his face instead of admitting he was massively wrong to back Radford and now he's blaming the fans for stating away when it is his decisions, his words, his actions that are putting fans off.
Oh I'll still come to games, I've never not come but I won't buy a season pass even though I can afford to. I'd even buy the 'Live' package so I can see games I can't get to and indeed pay much more for it but frankly it's cr@p, poor quality and is amatuerish and the club can't even be bothered to respond to fans when they tell you why they won't renew their subscription.
As I keep saying the club is poorly run and the owner is an idiot with bi-polar tendancies

| I think the difference between profit and loss for the club next year could be making the Top8 or not, if you finish in there you get 3 or 4 games against the big sides, where we'll get a good 2-3K walk-up fans at least paying say £18 a game (including concession rates) so that's a good £36K-54K a game as a very rough estimate. The club will also no doubt offer a 'mini pass' for those games which will bring the fans in. And while being on SKY affects the gates, our sponsors would be happy with a couple more big games on TV.
if we miss the 8 it'll be passholders only I'm afraid, with maybe a handful of Championship fans enjoying the novelty of playing an SL team.

If we scrape the 8 we probably have no chance of challenging for the 4 so walk up sales will be minimal. Lets face it if we are struggling on the field then games against the top 4 teams will not be something that inspires lapsed supporters to come, it may in fact encourage more to stay at home as they realise the season is already over with 7 games to play.

| As we proved at the end of last season we can beat the 'top teams' at home - quite comfortably. The question (as it has been for years) is can we produce a consistent level throughout the campaign and beat the teams that typically finish in the lower half of the table both home and away? It's not been the case for the two/three previous coaches and certainly wasn't last year either. The question is can the current coach do any better ? He certainly didn't last year.

Which top teams did we beat quite comfortably at the end of last season?
We played well against Saints but I'm not sure I would describe it as a comfortable win.
Against Leeds we were poop for the first two thirds of the match and snatched a win near the end.
Who else were you thinking of?
I agree with you though about consistency being the key.

I was referring to those two games. I thought we deserved to win both - maybe comfortable was a bit of an exaggeration.
I remember at the time some dismissed the wins as 'end of season' and 'nothing to play for'. Or claimed we were garbage
for most of the game. In the Leeds game we were poor with the ball (as were they) but our defence was excellent. It's
a thing with some Hull fans - preferring to wring our hands at the negatives and play down the positives. I don't see it as
much with fans of other teams.

You think he's not taking a salary from the club?
The old board was costing us £200kpa in salary, they have gone, he wont be taking all the £200k, but i'll bet you a wedge hes taking A salary.
When he had City he paid himself a footballers wage, the same as Theo Whitmore was on

If you're going down that route you need to include Trish Goldsmith's contribution too. She was the one who maximised the corporate side when we moved to the KC and got sponsors on board. Rule picked up the ball after she left (and fumbled it to a certain extent).
In theory I agree we need a dynamic person to big up the marketing of the club across the city and the county (and beyond).

Of course it was, if Pearson wanted to sack Radford he would, he has the money, unless you know otherwise?
The fact he has once again payed out a 6 figure transfer fee and is paying for an expensive overseas pre-season training camp, shows he still has the money, unlike rival clubs that are having to sell their best players and rely on young loan players from other clubs as they can't develop their own players.

Salary Cap, if you bothered to read this thread or the HDM you would see we are at the top.
Just because he has the money doesn't mean he will spend it (And I don't blame him), but if we fail ti make the top 8 or look like we aren't AP will act.
