I agree losing Griffin in the last cup tie with St’s cost us as he was in great form up until the point he was unfortunate to snap his Achilles, hardly his fault though was it, far from it.

Not excusing Griffin for today if he has indeed given Kendal some abusive language as he should have just bitten his tongue and gone in for half tine but I can understand his frustration with Kendal. Surprised no Hull player went to pull him away either.
The speed of Kendal issuing the cards was exceptional and think he could have handled the situation much better. Kendal for me seems to have bit of the Ganson god complex about him.

If Griffin has used profanity then I hope there is proof of what was said was extreme to warrant a red card.

Kendals performance for a cup quarterfinal game was shocking.

Different ref , Different game . Kendal is gash regardless who he's reffing . Didn't see the Griffin incident (I was at the bar )but players miss games for his willingness to issue cards , Id like the RFL to do the same for Refs rather than just demote them . He's utter cack !

Close game but the Griffin incident turned the tide. He was really stupid to get into the face of the ref like he did and once he got the yellow card it should of been a case of "yes sir,sorry sir" he could of gone into the changing room and yelled all he wanted to. But instead he's come out with some abusive language that you could clearly lipread and he gave the ref very little choice.

The Fash incident was something you can see in almost every game and to my mind it's a penalty at most and i'm a Saints fan.

Well if what I heard a couple of weeks ago about Kendall, it could explain some of his decisions in all the games he refs, not just ours.

Can’t have any complaints today, we all know what Kendall is like, he loves the lime light in these sort of games, unfortunately we was daft enough to give him the opportunity to make it all about him. If it was an isolated incident I’d be more forgiving but it’s not the first time Griffin has been pulled up for dissent and is something that isn’t needed. Yeah he’s an awful ref, and yes I understand tensions are high. But he as a senior has to be much smarter and the bigger person for me, and ultimately swung the game in Saints’s favour.

Overall, I thought we did okay, daft mistakes (Satae offload on the 2nd tackle) didn’t help. Looks like a costly game injury/suspension wise. Be tempted to rest/rotate for the Thursday game as much as possible and then kick on from there

From viewing it. It looks like Griffin asks Kendall what the penalty was for. Then he seems to point towards the screen, possibly suggesting that he was asking Kendall if he could have used the video ref?

Then Griffin turned and was walking away and said something to himself. He didn't direct what he said at Kendall.

A good referee would have had the people skills to deal with that situation.

We had a great, value for money, entertaining first half and then Kendsll ruined it for everyone, because despite the experience he has, these types of occasions are too high for his standard of refereeing.

I don't blame Griffin one bit. A more competent referee would have dealt with that situation by laughing at Griffin and telling him to go have a half-time cuppa.

I say Griffin did nothing that merited even a ten minutes sin bin. And I challenge Kendall, the touch judges and anyone at the RFL to prove me wrong by telling us what was said..

Sounds like we were on the wrong end of some iffy calls. On the Griffin red its just dumb from him. Saying that Kendall comes across as though he has a massive superiority complex and isn't a great communicator.

Saw enough of the game to not pick Dwyer for next week. Said he was a headless chicken when we were linked with him last season.

Would I have taken that performance before the game? Probably, but do wonder what might have been if no card was shown

Looks like we'll be missing Griffin, Taylor and possibly Hoy and Fash for next week.

I was impressed by our ability to still create space out wide with our shape in that second half. Couple of opportunities created out there. Really like the look of the direction out attack is going in- fluid and expansive.

Also, what’s the point in giving him the ten minutes to calm down and then instantly giving him the red? I’ve never seen the cards used this way (like football) in rugby.

It’ll be interesting to see what Griffin said. There’s an area between harsh and fair, occupied by “would a Saints player have got the same card for saying the same thing?”

Have Hull started pushing an extra player to their right when defending in their own twenty? I noticed against Warrington at Magic that Wire’s attack going down that side was running into a lot of traffic - but going the other way, Hull looked a bit stretched. Similar in the first half yesterday. Might just be my perception, but I could see sense in it… until other teams work it out.

Yesterday was just so frustrating. I never thought we’d win the cup but for me the first half yesterday was set up for the second half to be a humdinger.

You look at the NRL and refs like Nigel Owens. There’s a rapport between players the the ref. All Kendall had to say to griffin was

“I’m refereeing this game, not you. I gave the call I thought was right. Apologise for your language or I’ll send you for 10”

Griffin then has to take his medicine, knows his place and the spectacle isn’t ruined. post game he can get a £250 fine and hopefully learn his lesson

I was out down south last night and was talking to a big bloke in a RU top. Said he watched the game and was enjoying it till the red card. I’m sure there were 1000s like that.

I was at the game yesterday and after most games end up arguing with my dad whos a right referee basher and im generally in the you cant always blame the ref camp but yesterday the ref was atrocious to the point of being bent. Kendall had an agenda and that was to ping FC for everything. Saints getting constant pens 25 from Hulls line, if we got any they was in our own 25. There was nothing in the Fash incident, Saints players arguing with the ref no issues but Griffin sent off, Saints shoulder charges especially the one on Fash going unpunished - the whole thing was a shambles and an official complaint should be put in from FC about Kendalls performance imo

Are the ref’s still miked up? Would be interesting if they are to see if what Griffin said is picked up to justify the yellow and red cards

That's the 3rd time for a griffin, Wigan away in the play offs, Cas in the cup and now this, he isn't learning and deserves a ban. What does he expect to happen by abusing the ref, he isn't going to change his mind and this cost us any chance of winning this game. He will more likely get a ban and if he does he will hopefully learn.

So looks like Hoy, Fash, Tag and Griffin out on Thursday, Clifford, Brown, Gardiner? and Lane with possibly Scott or Lovudua on the bench.
