| Quote ="Willa"AP said he was going to look at the pricing structure because it was clearly wrong.
I personally don't think the season passes have ever been bad value for money.
I still expect AP to be true to his word and reduce match day prices, which are currently the major obstacle to achieving increased gates.
This may devalue the season pass and may stop some from not buying but as long as the match day prices are low and the team is performing people will still be coming through the gates.
Maybe AP doesn't want 80% of gates to come from season pass holders paying only £15 a game.'"
Good point.
I think your looking at 1/2 pound reduction on match day prices which I can't see making much of an impact. Get it right on the pitch and people will turn up in numbers.

This was known WELL BEFORE the pass prices were announced last season so was worked into 2011 prices. The VAT increase would have had no bearing on 2012 prices...

I think that would be illegal as you charge VAT at the going rate when purchased. Only purchases made on or after Jan 1st would be subject to the new 20% rate.

How would it be illegal if they bumped the price up by an extra £5 to cover known about the increase, but only paid vat at 17.5% until Jan 1st?

Why would they, or why would they need to?
The club are only responsible (accountable) for the increased VAT for purchases made after Jan 1st
They cannot charge 20% VAT when it is only 17.5%. They will only pay the tax man 17.5% for all purchases before Jan 1st.
You take the value of the goods for purchase, and add the VAT at the going rate.
Sure they can charge and extra £5 if they want to, but it has nothing to do with VAT. It just means that the club will make £4.25 extra profit on all sales before Jan 1st

Exactly, so the vat increase could have had an affect on ticket prices last season, without being illegal, if they'd put the prices up to account/front load the extra 2.5% they'd be paying post Jan 1st.

| I know full well the voucher exchange scheme was abused by some and must cost the club a lot of money in lost revenue every year.
A £5 reduction in my pass price is ok by me. I was hoping for more but I'm still looking forward to next season more than any in a long time. And I always look forward to the next season.

Hardly abuse. They could give their ticket away and the net effect to the club is the same. IMO, you've paid for a seat at 13 home games and it doesn't really matter if you took 12 mates to 1 match or went to all 13 yourself. The loss in revenue to the club must be negligible

Exactly my thoughts... I've paid for 13/14 games and i'll do what i like or am i supposed to just throw away games i can't make it to??
FWIW I gave a few away to friends/family last year for free. We actually spoke to one guy (union fan) that we met in pub after a game, we educated him on the greater sport and he said he'd never been to a game of RL. We gave him a ticket for free, on the game he came to he wanted to look the part so went to the shop and spent about £40 on a scarf and t-shirt. He had a good time with us, bought beer/food and came to about 5 more games at his own expense from there even paying to come in the executive box v warrington on the last game. FC made money and gained a fan from the voucher exchange scheme.
That CANNOT happen now....

Correct. I used the vouchers for members of my family as I can't get to all the games even with Sunday as the matchday. Now I'll just pay walk-up prices. The club might make a few extra quid from me but nothing significant, and they've lost a pass sale which was guaranteed income in advance. Not sure I see the logic TBH - unless there was more abuse going on than appears on the surface.

No i agree, but how many people would give away a free ticket to some stranger just walking through the turnstiles.
People have been caught selling tickets outside the stadium blatantly and stewards then refused entry, so its easy to see why they have clamped down

This is one of the main reasons why season passes are at a discounted price. They take into account that you may not go to every game.
The previous board got it all wrong, they only seemed to be interested in getting as many pass holders as possible. Yes this sounds good but completely wiped out the potential for increased gate receipts during the season match
I think the match day price should be £18/£20. This will decrease the pass value but still give pass holders 2 free games. Those that don't get passes will still probably go to 10/11 games anyway and I would expect the annual attendance to more than cover the grumpy gits who boycott

But your passholders are your core and more committed supporters. You have to look after them.. If you alienate them then your 'guaranteed' income becomes just hopes and dreams... The season pass is becoming more and more worthless!!

how do you work that out, just because of the voucher scheme? (which I will ask again, who else does it in SL?)

| I see everyones frustration with this, I used it myself a couple of times, its the old case of when you have got used to something no one likes it when its withdrawn. The fact is if you look at how many other football and Rugby teams do it you can see why it has happened and i guess our new owner has taken the new broom attitude and thought he would start as he means to go on. We are now on par with most other sports clubs. Its not as if we are the only club that won't allow a voucher exchange, in fact on the contrary, up to last season we were one of the few who had the sceme in operation. Not defending the decision, just saying that I feel that in the end it was going to happen soon anyway! Of course if we had kept Kath it might still be in operation, perhaps we were a bit hasty there!

Come back Kath, all is forgiven.
We would have been much better off paying an extra £20 inflation increase, and keeping our voucher scheme.
