I meant Tansey rather than Turner. My typo.
How many times has Gleeson been in breach of the Saints discipline code? Do you not think he's worth the risk?
I didn't say that these signing were an example of forward planning FFS. The point is that they are a reaction to a situation that couldn't have been planned for. You seem to be struggling with this concept.'"
Nope not struggling with it buddy
Not seen stated anywhere that Berro went due to injury? He continues to play?
The Tansey issue was hardly a surprise ,a player who had alleged disciplinary issues before he arrived had the same here. But then the Tansey situation came about predominately because the club decided to release a full back and use a hooker in that position who became injured. Tanseys recruitment itself was a desperate appointment due to a lack of succession planning at FB.

Our forward planning for the off season was to bring in cover for half back which we didn't do until one fell in our lap. If wakey weren't in financial difficulties we'd have been watching horne and washy/turner in the halfs again this season.
Everyone knew berrigan was leaving weeks before the end of last season so it's hardly an excuse.
Anyway, I don't care how good or bad their forward planning is, the execution of it is abysmal

Think Kosh meant he had to be played in differing positions to cover for injuries within the squad. Apologies if I'm wrong Kosh.

We need an out and out full back something we haven't had since Briscoe and Mckinnon is Agars preference for next year as long as he is solid, organises the defence and joins the line well then his lack of pace won't be a factor in my opinion and his age isn't even a concern for me.
Whiting isn't blessed with pace but plenty of people on here think he goes well at full back.

A point I've made myself. I'm not arguing for the fact that the BOD have a good plan.

It's hard work, good financial support, and great planning over a period of several decades. It doesn't 'just happen' without effort or skill.

| Looks an even more pointless signing now.
Long shouldn't be kept on.
We really need an overseas number 7 for next year.
If we use our last spot on a 7 that means we will have to find English replacements for Fitz and lauaki.
Signing an overseas hooker just doesn't make sense.
Unless we get a decent 7 another season of averagness awaits.

| i would try to get ellis here this season, and see how he goes.whenever he does come i would make him first choice 7 from the off,he will be 22 by the time he gets here,if hes good enough he ll make it.no disrespect to long or dykes,we have had to many injury prone players in the last few years, lets go for youth.manly sea eagles have promoted to young halfs in foran and cherry evans to the first team and they are now blossoming into a really good ,young partnership, which may form the cornerstone of the manly team for the next ten years.

I suspect that was the plan all along and I dont think Long would have got a contract extension anyway. I think that clears up the signing of Ellis and Heremaia. Ellis as backup and pushing for one of the half back jersies with Heremaia pretty much taking up the role Obst currently has - swapping with Houghton and covering an injury in the halfs. Not sure that makes us stronger but now easier to understand. If nothing else just perhaps shows whats available out there.

Why? We need a kicking game and an organising half, Ellis is far better at both than Obst.

Because as much as obst isn't a scrum half, he has more SL experience in the last couple of weeks than 22 year old ellis has in his life. No way will agar throw him in in front of obst. He'll only play if we have injuries. If agar saw obst as interchange hooker he wouldn't have signed heremaia

Basing on no other reason than the current injury and not having chance to prove himself for a new contract I dont see Long playing for us again. Based on that and say Obst leaving that would make Heremaia a straight swap for him (Obst). I just dont see us risking Ellis as a starting half unproven in SL. Therefore if Obst was leaving I could only see us in the market still for a proven half back. What makes you think Obst would be leaving though?

Because I think Heremaia is a replacement.
They've signed Ellis and are probably going to keep Long, so I don't see a place for Obst.
Don't be surprised if he's back at Wakey next year. I have a feeling there'll be a 15 team SL next year.
