The rumours are becoming stronger. Will be a big loss if/when he goes back home to Queensland!

He will be if he isn't replaced with someone of decent quality. We can't go into the season with only one recognised hooker on top of our halfback problems. It would be suicide.
If he was replaced with someone who could play hooker and halfback to a good standard, it wouldn't be the end of the world to see the back of him.

| If its true that Berrigan himself wants away then I hope he walks away without any kind of pay out from the club, otherwise with will likely struggle to get a suitable replacement with what is left within the cap.

| Surely if Berrigan is asking for his release then the club has no need to pay him off, only if the club was releasing him would we need to pay a compensation package.

| seems to be a certanty that he wants a release BUT cartwright was quoted as saying "when he returns from overseas"...that indicates to me that this was a quote from a while back, seeing as berro went home with his family etc as far as im aware after the season had finished ....hence talks would have occured whilst he was back home afew weeks ago......as nothing has developed since and his(berrigan) statement in the HDM saying he was staying indicates to me that it was just talks and thats as far as it went..unless he had to return before talks etc were concluded leaving him with no option but to return to the uk and leave his manager to sort the deal in his absence....
strange goings-on indeed..until a definate amswer is given then i'l be hoping to see him in the centre spot firmly next year....

| Interesting that John Cartwright is quoted as saying "we will just wait until he gets back from overseas" before they speak to Berrigan.
They must be expecting him to head home shortly without having his future sorted. With direct quotes from other clubs CEO's now in the press i would expect some form of announcement from James Rule to let the fans know the situation from Hulls perspective.

| as long as berrigan can be replaced with a half decent centre i personally see this as a good thing as it releases alot of money being spent on a player who isnt worth the clubs top wage, problem is theres no one available, personally i would let him go and give crusaders a fee for sammut and give jack briscoe or reece lyne a go on the wing and move tom biscoe to centre, if this fails you can always use whitng in centre and move tom back to the wing, weve more options in the backs rather then in the halves so would rather struggle there then in the halves, what happened to the sammut rumours????

| The Berro situation is simple, he wants out, grant it, making way for Inglis for a year.

| if Berro wants to go then let him, he's a quality player but hasn't performed to his best while been at the club. Wether that be because the players around him aren't at the same level as him who knows.
But if he is to go we need to have another player lined up! Hooker/half.

I like your thinking! If the wrangle across in Oz shows no sign of sorting itself offer him Berro's contract for the year, nowt to lose.

| I'd happily accept Berro out, Sammut in
then we would have genuine cover for HB. Sammut would get at least 20 games a season IMO. if not rotating a little with Houghton then he'd be filling in for one of our injured halves which is inevitable
Briscoe & Yeaman centres, Sharp & Lyne wingers. we could also resign Calderwood for one more season. or chris hicks?!

| Im hearing whispers that it's possible for high ranking military personnel (particularly those from films of a super nature) to create multiple user accounts on discussion forums in order to get behind enemy lines.
Now I personally don't believe this tripe because only a loser of the highest order would waste valuable gym time on this kind of thing when looking less like a drowned rat would be far more productive.
Aaaaanyway back to matters that I actually give a toss about. Berrigan would be a big loss IMO and we would need a seriously good replacement if he leaves.

I've been saying for a while now; if Calderwood is short of options then we should be offering him a pay as you play type deal or a cheap 1 year deal with bonus incentives for playing/scoring/etc. For me he was one of our most committed and enthusiastic players when fit and gave us something extra out wide, especially with his ability to kick and chase. I think it's way too early to be thinking about Lynne as our first choice winger; give the kid some time to develop without too much pressure.

Think Robbo4 is suggesting that General Zod may well have created an alias to post on the Hull forum.
Can you guess who he is?

| if berro is the one wanting out,and he put's it in writing we don't have to pay him anything, but a lot depends on this 4th year option, and what clauses are in it? nobody really knows, apart from the obv people.what no-one knows ,is if the option favours us or berro!! i also see the RL Express have picked up on all this too

| Tahu now parting company with Paramatta and looking for a centre. Searching across the world including SL apparently and they have money to spend. Another home for Berrigan.
