Westerman good player but bigger priorties in the team need some backs

Our h/backs have played 12/13 games all season...I think it is a priority

That raises a good question actually, could/can/has Westerman ever played in the halves? ala Kevin Sinfield?

Yes, but a lot better player than Washy (who I think has being ok this season and I would look to retain)

IMO he's a loose forward who can cover 6.

I do not necessarily disagree...however we definitely need cover at 6 and Westerman would do a lot better than what we have imo...Horney has only managed 13 games this season so far

Well it's been tried once in 3 seasons so i'd suggest he's not a half back

He played h/back as amateur so knows the role......also he plays as a creative loose man and not an extra forward, these types of loose man have no problems playing SO

i do feel he has been a bit quieter this year though, perhaps a move and change of environment is just what the kid needs? assuming all the squad is fit, where would you see him playing? loose man moving fitz to 2nd? Stand off in place of Horney? 2nd row? or would he be a starter at all?

I would like him to play Stand-0ff with Longy, I reckon they would be very creative together.

Agreed Westerman like sinfield play 13 as a traditional loose man they bring ball handling and creativity into the middle of the field within the forwards. Also like sinfield and wilkin can fit into the stand off position if needed. Dont think it would take much for westerman to convert into a full time stand off although i dont think Agar would achieve this alone so it would be down to longy and ginge!

I'd be disappointed if we went into 2011 with him as our first choice 5/8th.

Don't bother signing a prop, move Lauaki up there. Sign Westerman, play him at 13 in attack with Fitz in the 2nd row and in defence swap them around if needed. Sorted!

Should we be looking at a player who is good 13 to play in the half's? We'd be no better off with Westerman there than what we currently have.

So if Horney's injury nightmare carries on...who would you like to see as our SO going into 2011 ?

Well Fitz only has another year left, plus his injuries are creeping in so he would be good cover there, I disagree he is better than Washy & I would go as far to say as Horne as well. Creative 13s can adapt to SO, as they often step into the role during the game, if you watch Westerman you will see he often does this.

I would love to see nothing more than to see a Pivot 13 playing all the time. The way hornes injuries are we need some one who can fit in at 6 and do a job. Agars not going to replace horne when fit so westerman could be a great signing with this in mind
