I was simply saying that we will never be any good whilst our last line of defense plus our main kick returner is a at best a utility player and not a very good one at that.'"
My take on it would be two fold.
1. The last line of defence is only ever called upon when the 1st line of defence fails. Thats were the bigger issue is.
2. The modern full back for me isnt all about kick returns. Most of the good stuff that we do going forward comes through Tansey at 1. Whether that means Agar is right to play with full back as a pivot is debatable though. I'd maybe prefer to see a ball playing 13.

Your statement makes FB the single most important position in the team. I doubt you'll find many in the game who agree.'"
If you hadnt noticed a previous poster mentioned Tansey and i replied giving my opinion of him. I am not blaming Tansey for everything but dont let that get in the way of your rather boring and continuous disagreement with me.

| Tansey is a good player with a lot of potential..He will develop into a good f/back
He has had a bad run, but so have most of the team, we have to appreciate we are not privy to the game plan (if there is a game plan that is )

I think thats a bit harsh. I agree i would not like him as my perminent full back, but he is a good squad player as he has great utility value was cover.

| Strange thing is, its not that long since Tansey was being praised on these forums for his attacking play (especially last season) and his ability to provide an alternative from a set move from an attacking scrum.
Now he is branded the New Thorman!
Then again, its knee jerk Seb, you know, the bloke who doesnt go to games anymore. I can't realy take the comments of someone who can't be d to go that seriously

Sorry but i think you'll find i tend to see things going on at the club before the rest of the sheep jump on the bandwagon. You and kosh just like rubbishing peoples arguments without actually having a debate as you both think your clever. Id put you both on a par with FC Baldys level tbh.

And you like rubbishing players you've hardly seen play.
Everybody can see that almost everything good we do Tansey is involved in, his positional play is on the whole, very good, and I'm extremely confident when a high bomb goes up to Tansey as 99 times out of 100 he pouches it.
He's had a couple of games now were he's made a few bad decisions. Also, why am I the only one that thinks his kick returns aren't too bad? Watch the best FB in the world (Slater), his kick returns are exactly the same style.

I was with you until this little bit of madness. Tansey is a decent FB IMO but his kick returns are extremely average. Slater nearly always beats the first man, usually the 2nd too, but above all that he runs it out with 100% vigour. Tansey ambles upto the first tackle, it's almost lethargic looking at times. He seems to be safe under the high ball but misses his fair share due to poor positioning at times. As a last line of defence, he is shocking. For me, Tansey compensates for his flaws with his support play and contribution to the attack, he's about the only player that we have that has an un-predictive flare.

Did you watch Slater this morning? He was average at best.
I meant the style they bring the ball back in, not the execution of it. They both get the ball jog it back, jink a bit then try to accelerate through the gap. Slater is better at it, that's all I meant.

| Tansey seems to have lost his enthusiasm in recent months, after last seasons performances I thought we had got a good signing and a good full back, havn't much more from him this season though. But I would be looking to see if any full backs come available for next season and move Tansey to stand off or to the bench utility spot.

when both fully fit I'd agree.
We need another winger if calderwood stays any way.

| We're slagging Tansey now??!!
If we did sign Mathers and if Berro left then I would play Tansey as starting hooker with Houghton off the bench.

| Justin Morgan (Hull KR) to St Helens
We start off with a rumour that just keeps on surfacing time and time again. With tip-offs from close sources to Morgan's family in Australia, it seems for sure that St Helens want him as their new coach.
Ben Galea (Hull KR) to Hull FC
This rumour has been fighting strong for almost 2 weeks now and we can confirm from an unnamed current Rovers player that Galea has signed a 2-year deal with the black and whites. We also hear of a huge clearout at Craven Park at the end of the campaign.
James Webster (Widnes) to Hull FC
Hull are on the look out for a new assistant coach and the current Widnes and former Hull KR player maker is already working with the Under 18's at the club on a part time basis. He is set to be unveiled as the new assistant at the KC within the next couple of days, according to the Hull Daily Mail and sources within the club.
Richie Mathers (Warrington) to Crusaders
Mathers is determined to fight for his place at full back for the Wolves, however Brian Noble has already sounded him out as next recruitment over in Wrexham and it looks increasingly clear that Mather will depart the club at the end of the campaign.
Danny Orr (Harlequins) to Castleford
Harlequins fans have come out and openly stated that Danny Orr wants to return to the North and could be on his way back to former club Castleford. Some sources suggest Salford, although the Tigers looks the likely destination.
Mark Gasnier (Stade Français) to Catalans
The former St.George/Illawarra centre has been weighing up a lucrative deal with the french outfit to return to rugby league. His agent George Mimis is heading over to the club to discuss the terms of a potential deal inside the next week.
Clinton Schifofske (Crusaders) to Huddersfield
The giants are on the look out for an experienced key figure to help develop the younger players within the ranks. With similar roles held in the past for players such as Michael De Vere and current Man of Steel fullback Brett Hodgson, the club are sounding him out as an ideal signing on a short-term deal.
James Graham (St Helens) to Manly
The Saint-sation is quickly making a big name for himself and rumours from Australia suggest a straight swap is on the cards between Graham and Josh Perry who is currently at the Sea Eagles.
Steffan Ratchford (Salford) to Wakefield
The City Reds youngster has become John Kear's new target for 2011 according to Wakefield spectators and a deal will be announced before the end of the month.
