Think the warriors have done the same to fein as they had done to micheal witt i think (who we was linked with at one point) where they said they want to keep them when a club was sniffing around them (witt=hull fein=huddersfield) but then 2-3months down the line they have told them they can look for another club. |

can't really recall him in the world cup to be fair, if he does sign then so be it and i won't slag him off as a player, i just think hull for a change should set the sights a bit higher for someone more proven and if that means paying a transfer fee then so be it. as i said earlier if we can get a top quality scrum half i think we good be a decent side. |

I think the problem was that Fien wanted three years contract, and they would not give him one for that length. |

I'd feel, that [u IF[/u we signed Fien, i would be underwhelmed, that the club has failed to sign,a recognised 7.
Fien is a good player,but we need a natural 7.- not a converted hooker.
Ivan Cleary,the Warriors coach, stated that with dropping Fien, that Stacey Jones can direct traffic and lead the team around the field.
(In other words,Fien lacks the attributes to do this)

Those people had never seen him play then, you can debate about him being a cheap option and who other clubs dont want, or that he is more at home at 9 etc but what cant be debated is that he is a much better half then Thorman and would improve us drastically. |

Clueless on the field, the only time we look dangerous and score tries is when we throw the ball about and have runners and 2nd phase options but for some bizzarre reason we decide to play like where in the last 2 mins of a game with a 6 point lead for 80 minutes, we need a busy scrum half who can unlock defences.'"

Fien would be behind Orford and Kimmorley and about parity with Finch in my pecking order. If we signed him it would at least improve the team in that position at long last. Playing SH for the world champions is not a bad pedigree in fairness.

I would rather Hull signed Finch, Orford or Kimmorley as opposed to Fien. However it needs to be said that top SH's rarely come over to England, who was the last one? Sterling? If you think about it not many come over at all so for us to suggest that we will have failed if we don't sign a top SH is a bit ridiculous to me.
What we need is a 7 with an organising and kicking game and whislt there are better options Fien is more than capable of doing that job so if he were to come then I would not see it as a poor signing.

Reading that reminded me of Craig Coleman, the best SH I ahve seen in a Hull shirt IMO.
Wish we had somelike him know, reading that Kimmorley is getting some good praise the thread is a year old though, i would gladky take Kimmorley for a year though.

Yup two more and I am sure I have missed another one along the way but my main point is they don't come over here in droves so we can hardly demand that we sign a top SH. Saints, Wire, Quins, Bulls and Wigan could all be looking for a SH for next year.
I personally think Orford will end up staying put or going to Wigan, Finch and Kimmorley could be the two that become available along with Fien. |
