| I thought the interchanges were improved in that all of the pack got a rest at some point for a change, but a few were still slightly strange position-wise.

| Westerman played second row all game when Fitz pushed up to prop Manu came on the left, Westerman moved to the right and Tickle went to 13

In what way, well possibly apart from Tickle playing prop for 5 minutes

I'm not convinced Fitz was playing at prop during that spell. Looked more like Tickle was playing prop again, he was certainly packing down in the front row for scrums.
Moa got 23 minutes tonight. Came on with 5 minutes of the first half left and went off after 18 minutes of the second half and never returned, well we did try and get him back on with 54 seconds of the game left to be fair.

That's the one that stuck out to me, especially with Fitzgibbon staying at 13 for that 5 minutes. I also wasn't sure why Washbrook didn't directly replace Houghton IIRC, but then came on 5 minutes or so later to play hooker. Why not just make the substition directly?

That's how I saw it too. There was no change in Fitzgibbon's role at all.

Fitz stays out of the scrum all the time that said there is no difference between and prop in our structure anyway.

The Tickle to prop thing was exactly the same thing he did at Huddersfield.
Hame comes on for Ogre.
Manu comes on for Radford - Tickle goes to prop and Manu goes to 2nd Row.
Sam comes on for Tickle.

True, it just seemed that Tickle was basically lining up exactly where Radford would have been.

I may be wrong so dont all shout at me but im wondering if moa is having problems with his breathing just before he went on im sure i saw him with an inhaler, and then when he came off he was really blowing for breathe, but i have to say i thought he did ok for the time he was on

But that's what I mean, it doesn't make sense. Why not just bring Moa on for Radford and avoid the unnecessary re-jigging of the side for a spell? Even if you're going to move a backrower to prop, why not do it with Fitzgibbon and simply put Westerman at loose forward? That said the entire problem could be avoided if we just abandoned the Fitzgibbon at 13 gubbins.
I also happen to think that Lauaki looks more dangerous in the 2nd row and would rather see him there than prop.

maybe because then you have Moa and Luaki in the middle and it could create gaps ?

| Mean Luaki came on for Ogre, if Moa comes on for Radford then you have 2 impact players on who if caught side by side in defense could cause a weak link against agile players up the middle.
To be honest i think Tickle will move up into the front row in a year or 2 anyways

But we still had both Lauaki and Moa at prop at the same time tonight doing it the long way round, our substitions weren't done to avoid that.
As I say though, I personally wouldn't have Lauaki at prop, I'd have him in the back row rotating mainly with Manu. Fitzgibbon should be spelling with Radford at prop, to go with the O'Meley/Moa pairing.

Moa was limping a little when he went off it seemed to me.

| Thought it was a strange thing to bring on Lauaki and Moa 5 mins before half time. We're terrible at letting in tries during that period and as well as these two not being as strong defensively as Radders and Ogre they have to get up to speed straight away. We were under pressure defending our line at the time as well. As it happens no harm done.

Your are right about the impact players being on the pitch at the same time, tbh I think Lauaki is being used at prop just due to us having plenty of backrowers.

Hame came on about 10 minutes before Moa.

I agree that's probably why he's there, but I still don't personally see it as the best option when one of those backrowers is Fitzgibbon. The far more sensible way to do it IMO is:
Props:
O'Meley starting, Moa replacing
Fitzgibbon starting, Radford replacing
2nd row of Tickle and Manu starting, Lauaki replacing
Westerman at loose forward.
The exact same players, but all in their strongest positions (IMO) instead.

This is exactly how I would have our forwards, too.
