He didn't look as good as Head (I think it was pretty impressive how quickly he settled into our side in all honesty), but he wasn't far behind Dykes' early games IMO. He/we may improve so that he looks better than Dykes did once bedded in more. The key thing in comparison to those 2 though, is that he didn't look like he was held together by bandages and might fall apart at any time.'"
This is true! He'll do a reasonable job if he stays fit, I guess.

I know what you're saying, but I just think that Seymour looks promising as we are still only at the start of (hopefully) turning our side round.

Yeah, you're probably right. He just didn't excite me in any way. Thought McKinnon, for example, looked a lot better (in his position).

The challenge now though is whether any SL team will make signing of the class of Jason Smith again, at least from overseas. Isn't Cronk after 850,000 Australian dollars a year?

Only if the said player is kicked out of the NRL and doesnt take the Union bait.
Super League is not the best financial option any more.

| People seem to be forgetting that Seymour spent the final chunk of last season injured/playing for the warriors feeder club, and he's also moved to the other side of the world and joined a team with a new set up and a few other new faces, in a league that differs from what he was used to. Organising a team after all that is going to be difficult for the first few games.

Just my opinion. I may be wrong. I usually am

I know what you're saying but, although they will be an intended recipient. But alot of the time that pass won't be the correct one. They could be two defenders doubling up on him or something. So like I said if they are all an option, they should be ready to recieve the ball wehter or not it is intended for them.
The opposition might realise who the ball is going to go for and decide to run out of the line and put a shot on him, Yeaman-esqe. Therefore pop it up to someone else who could be running into the gap left by the player aiming to tackle the intended reciever.

| I thought we looked well organised other than a couple of dubious plays by Westerman which weren't successful. Credit to the halves for that organisation. We also scored from some good quality kicks from both Seymour and Horne. More to come hopefully as partnerships develop but we look a better team already.

I thought thats exactly what we did today with Yeamo's 2nd try?
Mind you, i only saw it on the tv on the concourse, due to being in the SLOWEST EVER BLEEDIN' QUEUE! My god, I'm just glad there wasn't a big crowd!
Sorry about that. Rant over

I think we have played with "options" instead of "dummy runners" in the last 2 games and that's why we look dangerous in the opposition 20 for the 1st times in ages. I think it all stems from having playmakers with enough vision and skill to see and execute the pass though which we now (hopefully) appear to have

| I thought Seymour was good, got better as the game went on. Was the first time I've seen him play for us though so might have just been in shock that we had an actual half back at a decent age who wasn't running on one leg!
Him and McKinnon are going to link very well I feel.

| It all comes from the players running effective lines just the same as they would if they were recieving the ball. With the vision from the half back to know which option is the best.

Not sure if this is aimed at my post about options not dummy runners. But if it was then this shouldn't just of been brought in now. It's an obvious thing even for the likes of Agar.

| Never went today but pleased by the performance and positive comments. Still early and we shouldn't get carried away but this should give the team confidence. Pleased with the defence just conceding one intercept try.

| Seymour finding his feet and MUCH better today.
Richard Horne seemed to benefit -got some decent ball with room to move in.
Very promising signs for me.
Little anxious about the pack - to me still one big lump short of matching any of the top 4.

| Despite people calling for Westerman to be moved to 13 last year, I don't see why, last year once he settled he was outstanding in the back row playing out wide, I would put him back there and play Tickle at 13.
Think the 13 picks itself next week, if Heremia is out then we have Nicklas, Turner, Whiting and Aspinwall after two bench spots.

When he finds his feet at 13, he may be even better. I assume the move is based on where the player's said they wanted to play - both Westerman and Ticke.

He might be although I think he will end up going too much defensive work in the middle, his game is suited to a wider role where he has more space and use his good hands to get players away.
I'm confident even if Gentle has asked the players there preferred position that he has the final say and will do what is best for the team.

I said after last week it might be an idea to have him defending wider with Tickle more centrally, then in attack let him drift around.
