What I meant was if you're a walk up Rovers fan, you can see every game for £35 without leaving the house. Fantastic value for the fan, unquestionably. But if it means that fan opts not to go to more than a couple of games they would have done otherwise, the club has lost income overall. They've obviously done the maths. If I were an away fan from Lancashire and weighing up attending CP might decide to buy the £35 tv deal instead, particularly if a family; save £50 odd on the gate plus petrol vs £35. I'd love it if FC did this package, just saying there's a trade-off.

The game's aren't shown till the Wed though. By this time You've either seen the highlights on Sky, BBC or the Super League site. Looking at emails made to the club they are now looking at creating a pay per view service at £3 for just the single games. This way for instance Wigan fans who don't come over or fancy a re-run can view the game on the Wednesday and Rovers can still make a little money.

I get that, but my point is that there will be some fans, home and away, who will opt to pay £3 for a view of the whole game albeit later than giving up their Sunday and spending £20 plus car parking, petrol etc. Don't get me wrong it's superb value but to be a success for the club it needs to yield incremental income.

Income from those who can't attend matches and those who go and subscribe anyway will far out weigh the odd tightwad who watches the game a few days after they know the result rather than turning up on the day

Hkr used alot of subs in the wigan game, I hope they don't do it (although both teams are entitled to) in the derby or it could be ruined spectacle.

It won't be a spectacle. Both clubs will quite rightly make lots of changes, that's what friendlies are for.

Considering we play York the same weekend I'd guess that to be right.

Wigan had 7 replacments Hkr 13, I don't know how many interchanges they both use.

If both sides want this to be a yearly event the it should be better than most friendly's for the fans, or they wont turn up.

I would be very surprised if Rovers had 13 subs sat on the bench next week and use about 40 interchanges like we saw today. Next week is our final friendly before Super League starts so i reckon we will have a squad of between 18-20 players and will significantly cut down on the number of interchanges.
Peter Gentle stated that he will use a squad of 20 players i think but i would imagine that he will interchange players more frequently with it been your first game.
The coming week is likely to see both marketing teams pushing the game in order to maximise the crowd and revenue. Lets face it both clubs need a pay day. If the clubs want to make it an annual pay day then they need to make this a competitive game.

Hope we get plenty of walk ups for this one as we've only sold 5k tickets with Rovers selling just short of 1.5k. I know it's a friendly but anything less than 10k is dissapointing IMO.

At this stage i think 6500 ticket sales is pretty good going. Talking to friends and family at Rovers yesterday none of us had sorted our tickets yet but we are all going. With a big publicity push later on in the week i reckon we will see a crowd well in excess of 10k.

Too many derbies I'm afraid it's a joke having another one. Looking forward to the Bradford friendly next week.

I am surprised at the low tickets sales, I can't wait to see our new look team and playing style. With all the bad news around I would have thought AP might have asked us to treat the game a little more seriously than a normal friendly. Nothing like a derby win to get the feel good factor, even if its in a meaningless game.
