The players earn a relatively easy living playing a hard game. They are paid extremely well to do a job most would give their right arm to do.

There are numerous occupations that are a much harder way to make a living than professional sport and they are considerably poorer paid.

Would not say they are paid extremely well. Their career lifespan is on average 10 years and only the top players get a very good wage.


As for booing sometimes this season the team have deserved to be booed, we are just letting our feelings be known to them.

I'd say that 30k (at the lower end of the scale) to do a job like that is very good money. Compared to say, £5.50 per hour for cleaning up vomit/poo/other messy substances in a nursing home, it's extremely well paid.

Your going on bottom scale wages their though.

Take your higher paid jobs like Mr office worker who's biggest danger is a paper cut getting paid £30,000 at the mid level.

Then you have the silly money other sportsmen are on, Cricketers get paid more than the average League player and that is hardly a high risk combat sport.

Eh, some of those cuts can be quite painful I'll have you know.

Mr Office Worker has to work 40 hours a week for his money. And there's not that many on 30k, either. And if you want danger, what about a fire fighter on 27k having to wander into burning buildings?

Other sports may be paid better than RL, but that doesn't mean that professional RL players aren't very well paid for what they do compared to almost any other occupation.

I'd assume the players are happy to be told they're fantastic after a good performance so they should be able to take a bit of criticism at times.

I personally wouldn't boo mainly because it seems a bit of a silly thing to do, stood there making an odd sound.

It only becomes an issue when the scapegoats get picked on and yet other 'popular' players seem to get away with murder.

booing takes up far too much effort and the team haven't justified putting any effort in to supporting them this season

I don't boo the team although I understand why some fans do so after a particularly bad performance.

What I have a problem with is people singling individual players out - especially when the teams are being read out before a game.

From what i saw on tv Myhill had a great game so he would come out and say booing is ok coz it wasnt aimed ay him !!!!!!!!!

He's just saying it to lick the fans so he don't get booed in future.

I wouldn't even consider getting out of bed for 30K, cheapskates.

Also there's not much chance of my leg being snapped in two at work (ala Walker).
