Yes, but 8 is the lowest score that gets an A and tbh I don't think we need to worry. We have to avarage 6th for this year and next and I think we are easily good enough to do that.

all the time we have 37 average brits in the squad we are doing ok and we can tick a box - our club is like the government we dont perform but we are great at ticking boxes

I totally agree which is why I was asking about the points scoring because if we were to lose that point (which I think we will) and ultimately lose the precious A license, maybe it would mean our board being forced to improve what we have on the field instead of just worrying about what goes on off it.

IMO when pass sales are down next year and revenue is effected they will start to do something about it - hope I am wrong and it happens sooner

JR and KH will not let that happen though !!! They will make sure that there is one solitary marquee signing just to give the fans something to put on their new shirts and to get them renewing their passes !!!

Salford and Celtic only started this season for 3 years, this year isn't quite half way through and you are assuming that we will not be in the top 8. There's still a long way to go and a lot can happen to ANY team. I don't think the summing up of licences is due till the middle of 2011 season, if we do lose a point and drop to 'B' licence we still are gauranteed a further 6 years in SL.
Thats a long time for you to take the anti-depressants, and who knows we may STILL have a grade 'A' licence, and that will be a pill too difficult for you to swallow.

well said...last year we broke the £1million barrier for merchandise alone so i dont see how we could be in debt...no doubt we have not quashed all debts but this season should see them all a thing of the past. to come from massive debts to where we are now is a credit to the staff, players and directors of FC but i do feel there are a few weak links and our signing policy needs to be seriously looked at as we are slowly becoming a joke in the world of rugby league and famous for signing people before we have actually got them here and fit

The licenses are announced in 18 months time so you work it out bright spark !!! And as for the anti-depressant remark, I'm more pi$$ed off than depressed because I can see us finishing outside the top 8 and that's all we deserve but you just carry on talking like a first class pr1k !!!

When I ask a genuine question about licenses, I don't expect someone taking the pi$$ or getting clever for no reason, that's all.

Maybe I am pessimistic, depressed, frustrated etc... but I think that's only natural given the direction our squad has gone in the last three or four seasons. I certainly don't need somebody with B&W specs on taking the pi$$ out of me. Maybe I go too far sometimes but I cannot believe some people who will never here a negative word spoken about our squad.

I think you need to chill out a bit TBH. I don't think the poster in question wears B&W specs particularly, and the comment wasn't really offensive.

Regards the license question, as usual with the RFL the situation is confused. The criterion about finishing places is based on an average over 3 seasons. That can't have started until this season as otherwise Salford and Celtic are screwed before they've even kicked a ball. On the other hand, the RFL stated that clubs would get 6 months notice of licence renewal, which doesn't fit with the first timeline. What will actually happen is anyone's guess, but it will almost certainly involve a fudge of some kind.

We have every chance of finishing in the top 8 this season even with our limited squad and coach, largely thanks to the tightness of the competition. If we finish top 8 next season as well I reckon that we'll keep the point and keep our A license. Even if we don't we can only drop 1 grade in any review so will have at least a B licence. That gives us plenty of time to turn things around.

In short - getting the A licence last year was absolutely key as it ensured 9 years worth of SL survival. A lot can happen in that time.

Its not that some people wear black and white specs all the time and wont hear a negative word said against the club. A lot of people like me are sick and tired of reading continuous negative threads about the club, and some people on here will turn every positive thread into a negative one, and by the looks of it this includes you. Try getting behind your club and supporting it instead of knocking it at every turn ffs.
