You know the main thing about all the Brough and Chase thing, it really shows how bad we were.

I firmly believe that when we walked out at Wembley in 2008 we probably had cap space for Gaz Ellis and probably another good player on top of the squad that turned up that day.

O Meley has played more than Arundel this season hasn't he ? Good forward badly missed hope he gets back to fitness and is here next season.

It will be a great signing which I'll be really happy about but we seriously need props because without them were screwed.

I hope so too, but we have to be realistic. Brough and Chase are amongst the best halves in the comp, Wigan are saying goodbye to Finch and Leuleuai. I think we have a shot at them, but simply can't see us getting both in this market, one would be fantastic.

I'm trying to chill a bit here but I tend to agree with that because the Mail has gone off at half cock a time or two of late and there is nothing at all coming from the Club, Chase or Cas. Sometimes the media can be counter productive, rumour coming back to me tonight from folks who went to catalan indicate that we lost out on Paea because it got out in the press early, don't know if its true but lets take a reality check here and wait and see what happens. The point people seem to be missing is that there is a huge lack of quality halves in the competition. For 2 to suddenly become available (think Chase is, but no evidence on Brough at all) is unlikely in itself, to suggest we're in poll position for both is just unfounded giddiness IMO.

Not surprised by this. Smailes has some form recently for overstating the status of FC's contract negotiations, resulting in disappointment. Wonder who his sources are, look like "mischief-makers" to me. It's derby week, too.

If we have signed Chase and if we miss Friday's deadline for the Visa what is there stopping us from taking him on loan for the rest of the season, starting this Friday? Surely he doesn't need a visa to go out on loan, similarly he doesn't need a visa other than the one he has to play for Cas, to play for England.

I know things have gone wrong in the past regarding signings , but there's nothing to worry about with chase . Only waiting for his visa and nothing else . But im not as confident about us getting brough .

If there was absolutely nothing in this Hull could pour cold water on it in an instance if they wish. You can try to play it down all you want but there is clearly something happening here.

It's not in my interests to play it down, I'd be giddy about it. I think there is something in it, undoubtedly, as there was with Paea. But the Mail clearly overstated how close the deal was then and I reckon this is similar. A Cas director has said don't believe all you hear, implying it's about this. HFC Boy has said Wigan and Wire have moved for him. A suggestion by the Mail the deal is so close Chase might play in the derby look wide of the mark. Meanwhile Rovers get a timely boost when he doesn't come. Keep up, it's derby week.

I did wonder about his visa/work permit. There was a cynical rumour going round after his conviction in Australia that his sudden interest in representing England, had more to do with being able to continue playing in the UK after his current visa ran out, than any great desire to play for us! The fact that he now has a child born in the UK of a UK mother, suggests that was wide of the mark!

You never know perhaps the RFL will let you register him before Friday and then allow you to play him when all the paperwork comes through. Tricky bit though is he cant be employed by you without visa/work permit clearance.

As far as Brough is concerned I am sure Huddersfield will be doing all in their power to keep him, including swapping the captaincy from Brown to him. I suppose much will depend upon whether he thinks things are going to be better now that Nathan Brown has gone!
