Called Ganson many a time but he was one of our better refs, at least he would make a decision. I'm glad he's got the top job, he might be a strong enough character to make an impression.

I always thought Ganson was too full of himself when reffing but I had to laugh when I heard he'd be replacing Stuart Cummins who's another conceited official.

I've written several complaints to Cummins about refereeing decisions and never received what I thought to be a balanced and reasoned response. In his opinion, the referees were always right: there will be no change with Ganson taking over!

That one gone next season let have new ref's.If not 2 ref's on the pitch .They just might get thing right for a change .ps don't hold your breath

Can't say I'll miss him but I'm not sure he's any worse than the others Super League refs.

We need to encourage retired players to take up the refs whistle,would keep them involved in the game ,and they would also have an insight .

Think he's only just finshed measuring how far forward that pass was to Dobson and decided to fall on his sword!

I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand he could be the best ref around (2005 cup final, he allowed the teams to flow and it resulted in a great game). On the other hand he was prepared to call the big decision, but lately he called them wrongly (Dobson forward pass and the non red card for burns being examples).

I think he will be missed as I think the players had respect for him.

For me the best referees are the ones that aren't noticeable and just let the game flow. Cardiff 2005 is a great example of this with Ganson. Unfortunately it's one of the few occasions I can think of when he was like this.

I don't mind refs that pull a team up for their errors and infringements either but they need to be consistent in their decision making. Ganson was one of the worst for inconsistency IMO.
