Whilst it's not quite the same and I'd fall short of calling him a waste of the salary cap, Brett Hodgson will be far from cheap and seems to need an awful lot of rest now, even when technically fit to play. There was also both Amos Roberts and Stuart Fielden at Wigan recently who could barely get games even when they got back from injuries. Then at Wakefield there's Isaac John and Steve Southern, who were touted as 2 of their key signings (Southern even being named captain IIRC) but ended the season way out of favour. This is just off the top of my head, but it can and does happen.

It's probably a moot point anyway, as if we sign both a scrum half and a fullback I think there'd be a good chance Seymour would be paid off and Horne would retire.

If I were you I'd be more concerned by Josh Hodgesons notion that losing many experienced and senior players can sometimes be a good thing. Or that that he feels rovers "continue to go from strength to strength" having just lost said players and having just finished outside of the playoffs.

I'm not Sure how You compare players out for a full season like Roberts and Fielden or rank stinkers like Southern and John to Brett Hodgson??



Hodgson only missed 3 games of our league leaders shield winning campaign, and had a couple of injuries this year that had him miss eight matches he was rested for a couple (one a nasting spanking off Salford of all teams) ,but he's been absolutely crucial to our Challenge cup win, bagging himself a Lance Todd Trophy btw, a runners up spot just one point behind the leaders, and our first ever grand final appearance.

Its why weve signed him for two more years and as one of our best ever overseas players (in my opinion) I am not concerned in the slightest.


I hope you do sign Scott Prince he's high profile and a quality player. Superleague needs players of his type. he'll be good on the pitch, he's good in front of the Cameras and I dont recall him being in any bother off the pitch either. Its a bit of a boost for our game if he signs.

The point being put forward was about expensive players being on the bench not through injury. I did open with 'not quite the same' with Hodgson, because he's not left out due to quality, but he neverless could fall into the 'expensive luxury' category. I was simply making the point that we are not the only club who have big name players who don't always get picked, and that it doesn't instantly make them a waste of salary cap.
