| Not sure why people are so certain Hull KR are safe. Their ground's poor as are their finances, they're in the same City as a bigger Rugby club and crowds whilst pretty average have showen no growth from the year they finished 8th to their most succesful year for decades when they finished 4th. Coupled with been in the super league 5 years and still taking the mick with the overseas players situation and seemingly less and less people travelling away with them (that's just a guess based on what i've seen on TV, no concrete informationa behind that).
With all that been said though, I feel certain Wakey will go.

If you use the SL formula and mark all the points off correctly and honestly you end up with one club clearly at the bottom. Now bringing one up also has its own set of problems with contending clubs each with there own merits and using the very same SL tick list it also point to one club.
This is the rugby league we are talking about here and unless some one throws themselves out by going bust, then is Wakey for down and Widnes coming up.'"
Not quite. Depends on what you need to do to "satisfy the RFL".
www.therfl.co.uk/licensing/licensing_faqs
"New stadiums or redevelopments of existing stadiums will only be taken into account if the RFL is satisfied that the stadium will be open or the redevelopment finished by the start of the 2012 season."
Clubs are assessed on criteria in 5 key areas:
a. Commercial, Marketing, Media and Community.
b. Facilities.
c. Finance.
d. Governance and Business Management.
e. Playing Strength and Player Performance Strategy.
Clubs that meet all of the A Grade criteria across the 5 areas will be awarded an A Grade licence. Clubs that materially meet all the A Grade criteria and/or satisfy the RFL that they will meet the criteria in the next round of licensing will be awarded a B Grade licence.
The RFL will then allocate the remaining Super League licences to those existing Super League clubs and/or Championship clubs which applied for a licence and met the Championship Club Minimum Criteria. The licenses will be allocated to those clubs that the RFL board believes are the most suitable, taking into account the:
a. Extent to which each club helps meet the SLE Strategy and the strategic aims and objectives of the Licensing process;
b. Historical activity of the clubs under consideration; and
c. RFL’s reasonable opinion as to future performance of the clubs under consideration.

| Last time I said Wakey shouldn't get a franchise even tho I like going to Bell Vue, and my opinion hasn't change, infact Wakey are in a worse state than when last franchising.

| I can't see past Wakey regardless of getting permission for the ground or not. It's a shame for them but they seem to be in a bit of bother and Widnes might not be the best team in NL1 but they have the facilities.

| I remember after the awards in 2009 something about only being able to drop one grade every three years.
So, Hull, as a Grade A holder, could as a minimum be granted a Grade B licence this time, a Grade B club could only drop to a C - therefore am I right in concluding that the only clubs which could be outed are those with a previous award of a C Grade?
I'm certain that people were saying that our Grade A licence guaranteed us a place for the next 9 years, back in 2009. Or has all this gone out of the window with the new criteria?

| I would like to see it extended to 16 clubs with Widnes the shoe in,
I see a problem for Wakefield if both Featherstone and Halifax apply which I'm sure they will.
Has anyone heard anything more about a Scots team?

Remind me when we finshed 8th. I hardly consider a drop of approx 4% in a recession to be cause for concern on a "Bradford" scale.

| Would have to be Wakefield for me, not only do they have stadium issues but they are struggling financially as well (I know a lot of clubs are but they seem to be the worst hit). Now personally I like Wakey and would be sad to see them go but unless we get rid of Quins they are the ones that seem most likely to be departing.
Quins will be going nowhere as the RL seem to think that without top flight rugby in the capital the game is as good as dead. The fact is they bring nothing to the game and with the crowds they are pulling in they must also be losing money hand over fist.

| Think it will be wakey for me. With all the financial stuff they have to be the ones for me. The only way out for me is that if they swallow their pride and share grounds with cas.It just makes sence. This will be the best all round and would make both clubs financial a lot stronger for the future. If ac milan and inter milan can do that i see no reason why they cant. Its there only hope

One current SL club will definitely lose it's place for the 2012 season.
The franchises are confirmed next July, I believe.

I do belive that if both Wakey and Cas get new stadia one of them will still go.
Infact I think the whole 'we have started a new stadium so you can't say no to us' is a bit of a smokescreen IMHO.
I would imagine the RFL already know who is getting the bullet and I don't imagine a partly build stadium will save them.

On the RFL's site (licensing FAQs):
"New stadiums or redevelopments of existing stadiums will only be taken into account if the RFL is satisfied that the stadium will be open or the redevelopment finished by the start of the 2012 season."
Considering the applications need to be in by April, you'd imagine clubs need to be well underway with whatever building/redevelopments they promise in the document. Seeing that loads of clubs promised major developments in the April 2008 applications and so far Salford and Saints are the only ones that can demonstrate material progress, the RFL can probably take a stronger stance this time with Widnes ready to be promoted.

Yep, chances of them turning round an application approval to starting building works in 5 months are minimal.

| The Wakefield planning permission is still not nailed on. There is a large lobby against their development. It is not just going to be a rugby stadium but a large industrial estate/distribution hub that is planned. I guess that if permission is not granted for the industrial site the developers would probably pull out of providing the stadium. At best it is likely to go to a public enquiry which will just delay matters even longer for them and make them the favorites to lose their franchise
