| IMO whether it is written down or not is irrelevent. It is Agars job to control discipline and if some players are going out getting drunk regularly and even smoking then it is his job to put a stop to it. I remember a story involving Gareth Raynor not long after Peter Sharp was appointed, Raynor was fined for being late for training after using the excuse of one of the bridges being up, Sharp's response was something along the lines of "well you knew there was a bridge between your house and the training ground so you should have set off earlier!". Somehow I can't see 'Rich' Agar taking the same approach.

| All this stuff ought to be in the players contracts anyway but as no-one actually looks at their contract after they've signed it a short, one page code of conduct would help.
I don't see why it should be confidential between the club and the players. It would be the same for all of them and wouldn't contain any personal or financial information. Surely its basic, commonsense stuff and surely we, the supporters, are entitled to know what standards the club expects from its players.
If there is one it then has to be enforced consistently and fairly.

Is it true they smoke at training, surely Agar cannot condone this?? I'm not a Hull fan but I would be suprised if any other SL club allowed this. I am genuinely shocked.

Very ill thought-out remarks making it obvious you have little concept of professional sport. Sportsmen and women have an obligation to look after their bodies to a far greater extent than normal people because their job performance depends on it, they are rewarded for this (to varying degrees depending on the sport) in their wages. If you don't understand this then you don't understand much.
Also, I'm fairly positive that the human rights act does not mention anything about drinking on 'school-nights'.

Think you have a valid point but maybe they should refrain from having sex at least 2 weeks before a game as we know this can hamper performance..

Thats the kind of attitude which is holding the club back. Maybe you would be better off supporting a pub team than a Super League club?
We pay good money to support the club and most of us are paid a lot less than the players are. If you are a professional sportsman being paid between £50,000 and £100,000 a year as most of our first team regulars are then you have to make certain sacrifices. Professional sportsmen are supposed to look after their bodies and while I'm not against anyone having a drink I dont turn up for work on a Monday morning hung over and unable to do my job properly and I think I'm entitled to expect the same from the players of the team I support.

| I cannot understand how the club can even tolerate players smoking. I cant get my head round it really. It makes no sense at all. No wonder Agar cant work it out, its the equivalent of a mechanic filling the petrol tank of a car with water and then scratching his head when it doesnt work.

some footie players smoke and they dont get penalised for it so why should the rugby lads. they shouldnt do it but theyre grown men and agar isnt their babysitter. they should be able to step it up and perform just as good as the non smokers imo.
can see where ur coming from though

| I stayed at the same hotel with the Saints players at the first Magic weekend, when they gave Wigan a good seeing-to. Long and Cunningham to name but 2 looked well rough on the following morning.
Personally I think a code of conduct in terms of a written set of rules in itself is not the answer. I'd guess that the most successful clubs are those with a culture that starts with inspirational leadership and where all its members, particularly the players and coaching staff, buy into what the club is trying to achieve, and the board resource those ambitions and shared objectives appropriately. I know this sounds a bit like management theory bollox, but I just doubt that Saints or Leeds have a list of rules about who can drink when and how much. The players seem to feel a collective responsibility to put and keep the clubs where they belong and a pride and urgency that ours lack.
In a way, the injuries disasters of the last couple of seasons have served to let our players, coach and CEO off the hook. There have been (up to now) no stated ambitions and no consequences for not delivering anything on the pitch. Whilst we all had a good laugh at Morgan for saying Rovers could win the Grand Final this year, at least he was setting an ambitious goal. Agar is so downbeat anyway you wonder whether the "target" was one of consolidation in 11th spot. We might just do that if a few of Bradford's results go our way.
To me, the drinking thing is a symptom of the complete lack of accountability and passion the players feel for the club and the general lack of consequences for not behaving professionally, rather than being an issue in itself.

I coudn't agree more. However I think some of them will be facing the consequences in the next few weeks. Lets hope it serves to [iencourager les autres.[/i
