Conner is defiantly not a 6. For me centre MAYBE do a job at covering fb when required.

Kelly should be at 6 every time. Although ifnhebis to leave end of the season, I can see why we are trying conner at 6, asbi thought he might do a decent job there. Not so much.

With Kelly in a 6, it does make sneyd look a lot better player, as we have a organiser and a running back on the pitch then.

Obviously, missing satae and sav who played well to start, has hurt ourngame plan, with ligi Taylor etc get us going forward and opens upmthe field for halves and backs to do damage.

Ratu and Carlos are huge players for us also, ratu with is speed power and tries, Carlos with his clever rugby mind, twinkle toes and tries.

Fonua clearly isnt up to speed, but thats to be expected with his injury lay off. When he is fully fit, I'd have him and ratu on our wings. With conner and Carlos at centre. Yes that means having Griff onnthw bench to cover centre and second rower (which isn't popular opinion) as lane, for me, just isnt cutting it however you look at it.

Fash and masi, another two, who just dont seem to bring enough to the table either. Id rather bienek play from the bench then either.

Carrying Johnstone on the bench isnt working for me either. Unless youre spelling him for Houghton. Not for either of them to play at 13.

Hes been excellent so far. Definitely the pick of our new signings. Shame we haven't got a decent 4th prop as he would be better playing 13 with a bit more space. His run and pass for the try last week was top drawer.

I have always agreed with you on the lack of a 4th experienced front row.
As someone mentioned it looks like the Fonua signing was made from the heart rather than the head.
He obviously still isnt fit.Just how long does he need?

Fonua will be a good signing long term, particularly when Ratu leaves next year. Pack isn't a problem, it's our half backs and attacking structure.

Hopefully this will be something like the side we put out next week.

We rely heavily on individuals rather than structures.
All teams have injuries, but other teams seem to be able to have continuity in how they play when players are missing

We base our game on bullying teams. Once some of the big units are missing we can’t play a different way, and those that come in don’t have the same presence.

Whatever happens, Alby needs to be back in the team

With Kelly back next week I'd be dropping Shaul. I thought he was at the heart of a lot of our attacking issues today, as he often is.

No i wasnt but i was expecting a lot more from his last two games and a lot more offloading like he did at Salford

Hull have the same issues they've had for 2-3 years. The halves aren't good enough and there's next to no creativity or nuance in the attack. Radford for some reason ignores this and continues to believe that bringing in big men up front and out wide will solve all the problems. Also a lack of depth in the squad due to limited academy output means Hull will always struggle when they get injuries.

Hull 4th or 5th this year, Wigan far from the finished article but will likely finish 2nd.

Got to agree. Plus the best teams have at least 2 rugby brains in their team. We have Sneyd and that’s it. We missed a trick in not picking up Richardson from Saints.

Richardson too similar to Sneyd, both have elite kicking games, decent running games and neither can tackle.

As has been said you replacement players arent up to it. Cant cope with more than a couple injuries/bans.

Number 13 and Griffin were excellent, thought Swift was decent too.

Shaul is holding you back, Connor needs to play full back IMO as ive said before on here.

Not long got back from the game after a long drive back to Scotland, so I am only just having a proper look at all the comments now.

A few of my observations from the game:

Shaul was very poor. Drifted sideways way too often which ruined a lot of promising attacks, by the time the ball finally got to Griffin or Fonua they just didn't have any space to work with. Also, I have no idea where he was for their try that came from the kick through. Swift made a mess of it, but there wouldn't have been a danger in the first place if he wasn't so badly out of position.

Fonua was a handful and showed glimpses of what he will offer, but he's woefully unfit just now. He could hardly catch his breath in the second half. It's going to be a good month until he is really firing imo.

The pack were a mixed bag. Taylor and Ellis both went ok. Jones tried but didn't have much success. Lane and Fash were ineffective. Bowden and Masi may aswell had not bothered. I'd be surprised if they made 5 carries between them.

Griffin and Sao were both excellent. Sao just seems to be able to offload whenever he wants to.

Kelly has to come straight back in. Its a no brainer imo. Given our current backs situation I would put Connor at centre with Fonua outside of him, but longer term I really think we need to be having either Kelly or Connor at full back.

It was a game we just never really looked like winning. I thought we played a little like Rovers did against us. Throwing it wide before we had established any go forward and Wigan found it very easy to defend. And I aren't sure why, because Wigan aren't a big side. It's not a forward match up that looked too difficult for us.

On the whole it was another poor performance and even with a few back next week I'm not sure things will change too dramatically. Let's hope Kelly can spark our attack a bit.
